Overall a great stay

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, family room was fantastic and highly recommend. Service was efficient and friendly. Good breakfast. Pillows were too firm for my liking but that’s personal preference.

Lovely hotel glad to be coming back

I missed coming to this hotel due to Covid, but to come back. The hotel has period features so don’t expect a new glass building, that said the service and staff are amazing. Food is also great, so come hungry

2/10 Poor

Terrible

No welcome on arrival. There was very short notice of a Christmas party so the night was very loud up until 12.30am. No acknowledgment on departure. The room was full of cobwebs on the ceiling and the breakfast room was very cold. The bed and pillows were also not that comfy. Overall the hotel was very tired.

2/10 Poor

Loud music, grubby hotel

Had the Hotel contacted me when I booked a room and told me there would be loud music playing until gone midnight, which was then replaced by the banging of the lift, I certainly would not have booked, The hotel is Eco Friendly due to the lack of working light bulbs,The furniture had more chips than McDonaldsThe room was supposedly the "Honeymoon suite" but I'm guessing the divorce rate locally had gone up after spending the night in this grubby, tatty overpriced room When I booked out the very non-professional staff member sat un his overcoat and scarf, didn't enquire how my stay was, only good point, the breakfast was good quality
Dirty tired furniture
Dirty stained carpet
missing handles
hole in wall with electric cables on view

Tired

Stayed last night in honeymoon suite as it was our anniversary. No fuss made but hey ho Room lovely BUT few niggles. Stains on cushions on bed. Curtain coming off curtain hooks in bedroom Blind coming off rail....also frayed in places. TV didnt work well. Fire door right outside door bangs when closed Room too warm but unable to open windows as sashes broken Staff wonderful. Food gorgeous however . But hotel needs attention !

8/10 Very good

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but check in was disappointing. In the lobby as we arrived, they had self check in set up on a computer at the desk. A staff member was nearby the desk, but never welcomed us or made eye contact as we entered the lobby, or asked if we needed assistance with anything. Finally he engaged us as we were trying to figure out how to get to our room. Our room was on the 3rd floor of the hotel. The room itself was lovely, but the weather had been very hot for days, and when we got to the room all the windows were shut, and the air conditioner was off. It took a long time for the room to be tolerable temperature wise. As they knew they'd booked the room, it would have been nice for them to have attempted to cool it down before we arrived. Other than that, all was good. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious, and the staff friendly and helpful.

6/10 Good

Breakfast was good, The staff were all very polite and friendly. The room was adequate. My main issues were with attention to detail, the stairway and carpets were dusty, the room carpet and blankets were stained. The lift was shabby.

All great - nice comfortable room, lovely bathroom (with lashings of piping hot water (that seems to be missing in lots of hotels), good parking, superb breakfast, sensible price and, above all, really friendly welcome. What's not to like?

The room was very clean and welcoming. We dined in the restaurant very fair selection and served very hot. Breakfast was a full selection, and cooked to order.

Weekend stay

Staff were great. Lovely breakfasts. However parking was an issue, and there were late night functions on both nights of our stay. Our room was above the function area, so the feeling was more like staying in a room above a pub. Because of the functions there was no restful area for residents. The marketing information does not reflect the actual hotel and location.

Lovely hotel - great customer service

Overall we had a lovely stay at Riverside House Hotel. The bar, restaurant and communal areas are well decorated and have comfy seating. We stayed in Room 12 which is a very large room with fabulous high ceilings, big bathroom with shower (and thick fluffy towels) and a garden view. Whilst lovely the room could do with a bit of attention - the aircon wasn’t great, the curtains need some rehanging, the windows pull cords were broken so had to be wedged open and the carpet and furnishings were a little tired (lots of the edgings have fallen off). It was clean (apart from the sock between the bedside table and window!!) The outside space was lovely with plenty of well spaced tables (few more parasols might be good) Special mention to Roxy who was wonderful - with good energy and great customer service. She addressed a check in issue professionally and her customer service at the bar and in the restaurant was fabulous. Thanks also to Chef for accommodating my last minute change of mind. Decent breakfast with friendly service. Enjoyed our stay and room - (just felt a few room details could do with addressing) Would stay again 😊

Very tired hotel

Check in was ok.booked in online which was a waste of time really. Room 24 allocated. Very tired.worn carpet.tatty bedside tables.tired bathroom. Bed wasnt comfortable and pillows like biscuits. The only saving grace was the air con ! TV remote faulty. Sat outside but not for long due to wasps . Outside also looks tired . Sat inside for dinner but this also needs refurbing. This used to be a nice hotel but needs money spending on it. At £138 I would expect better quality room

Excellent sized family room, in fact two rooms. Friendly service, good breakfast and a lovely garden. Some minor maintenance issues such as some bulbs out in the twin beds room and shower holder loose from the wall. Overall though very lovely place to stay. Happily would stay again.
