Bristol Harbour Hotel & Spa
Gem of a hotel in central Bristol
This is my go-to hotel of choice when I'm in Bristol for business, and have now stayed here five times. The hotel is in a grand old building that used to be a bank. I think it's only been open a couple of years and so is in excellent condition throughout. Staff are very friendly and welcoming on check-in, delivering you to your room on check-in - which is useful as the floors and room locations/numbering can be a bit quirky. Beds are large and extremely comfortable, with nice furnishings throughout the rooms. There's some complimentary gin & sherry in the rooms as well, which is a nice touch. The Jetty restaurant is tastefully decorated, with an extensive and eclectic menu. This time round I had seabass ceviche, veal polpettes, chicken & prawn in a lobster sauce, and bone marrow potato gnocchi. All reasonably priced and good quality. Service in the restaurant also very friendly and attentive, with particular commendation going to a chap I assume was the manager, although I don't remember his name. Only minor gripe from this stay was that the room was a bit warm at first, with no possibility of opening windows (and no air-con), but that wouldn't affect my rating of the hotel. Surrounding area has loads of places to eat, drink and shop, with the St. Nicholas Markets virtually on the doorstep. No parking at the hotel unfortunately but there's an NCP car park - which you get a 20% discount with a voucher from the hotel - a couple of mins walk away

Good hotel but a few problems
The positive - lovely hotel in a great location with friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast. The negative - on one of the hottest days of the year the radiator outside my room was on full blast, the air conditioning in the room did not work and the noise from local bars went on till about 1am (I only realised in the morning that there were ear plugs in the bathroom)
