Fairway hotel in January
The Fairway Hotel, located near King's Cross Station, offers a convenient and budget-friendly option for travelers. The room, while clean and warm, was incredibly small—more of a "shoebox" than a spacious retreat. The shower pressure was a major downside, barely providing enough water flow to be functional. However, for a one-night stay, the hotel serves its purpose well, offering a comfortable bed for a decent night’s sleep in a central location. It's ideal if you’re just looking for a place to rest, but don’t expect luxury or high-end amenities.

Too compact & overpriced.
The room was on the 3rd floor at the very top of the building. It was exhausting carrying luggage up there. Sadly I wasn't given the choice of floor level, when booking, so I had no idea until I arrived. My partner is disabled and found the staircases quite difficult to navigate. The staff were very friendly, but the room was too compact and overpriced for what was on offer. Sadly, the noise from the other guests kept us awake, as did the noise from the street level. There was a constant racket of people walking past, having conversations, vehicles reversing and beeping, emergency service vehicles with sirens on a frequent basis. The bed was comfortable, but the room was very hot, even with the window ajar, and we barely got any sleep before having to get up at 3:30 to catch a european train. All in all, the location was a great help, enabling us to get to St Pancras on time, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel.

Great hotel, great staff, great location!
Great property, clever use of area to maximise the living space. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, even swapping us to a ground floor room to help with my massive case! Perfect location for the Eurostar. Will stsy here again.

Survived it
Firstly, thanks to the very friendly staff member who helped get my room ready earlier and helped carry my suitcase up 4 flights of stairs (no lift). This was unfortunately the only highlight of my 1 night stay. This is not really a hotel, more like a hostel/motel and it is super run down, with a strong sewage/drain smell in room the whole night. According to staff this smell is present in all the rooms and surrounding area and if they tried to get it fixed they would lose fheir license to operate, due to old age of building it is not easily fixable. So not great. I had to sleep with window right next to my head in cold winter just to try get some fresh air, and tried to seal the bathroom “door” with towels and clothes. Single room is super small, dirty walls and bed spread, broken toilet seat etc. Only stay here if you desperately need a small bed to sleep and do not have much money and you’re traveling early/late from st pancras, otherwise I would avoid. Hotel is very busy and obv doing quite well, but it must be due to location next to st pancras and relatively low rates.

Belgium jaunt
Our stay was excellent , hotel was very conveniently situated , as we need an early start to catch the Eurostar . Room was compact but well equipped , with shower , comfy bed and adequate refreshment/drink options . Lady at reception was friendly and helpful , all in all we were very happy with our overnight stay .

Better options in the area
I love this part of London and there are several hotels along the side streets leading to Kings Cross. I have stayed in many of these hotels. This one was not as nice or as easy.

I stayed overnight before catching the Eurostar. The room was small but well appointed, including TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The bedroom and shower room were very clean and the bed was warm and comfortable. The only downside was the narrow staircase (no lift), but the person on reception carried my case upstairs for me. I would book again.

When can I come back?
It turns out there are a bunch of little hotels along Argyle St but we were very happy with this one — even with a fourth-floor room! The proprietor is lovely and seemingly always on duty in little front office. Our room was clean (maid comes in every day unless you specifically ask not to have service). Bathroom was VERY small and could have used a shelf under the mirror, but water pressure was good. That room might be hot in summer; in mid-September we slept with window cracked and were quite comfortable. (Don’t know if there’s AC). Loved the location and felt thoroughly safe. A few minutes’ walk from King’s Cross subway lines, ThamesLink and Stansted Express train, so we could get all over London and out to airport easily. But we walked a lot — to British Museum, Tate Modern, Marchmont St. in Bloomsbury. Several odd little museums right in the neighborhood plus British Library if you’re into really old documents and Beatles sheet music.

Good stay. All great, but the room could do with a few touch ups (screws tightened on hooks and door lock or inside handle on ensuite doors). Thanks to the hosts for being very welcoming!
