Great location
I stayed for 6 nights in March 2017 for a work conference around the corner. I've stayed at Club Quarters in Houston previously so had similar expectations for this hotel. The fast internet, complimentary quick breakfast facilities, newspapers and computers are a plus as was the adjoining restaurant and bar. The room was suitable however I would have appreciated a fridge so that I could make my own cereal and tea/coffee as the in-room facilities were quite poor. The bed was comfortable however, being in the centre of the city of course there was some nighttime noise. The biggest letdown for me was the cleaning service. Upon check-in I found rubbish left from the previous occupant as well as a number of large skinflakes as if someone had peeled sunburn off in the corner of the room. A colleague staying at the same time found hairs in his shower at the start of his stay. I cleaned it myself so that I could settle in immediately. Twice when I returned to my room had things left behind by the cleaners; a bag of someone else's rubbish and a cleaning product. The hotel provided me with two breakfast vouchers by way of apology which I thought was generous of them. The gym, whilst small, was clean and the machines were in working order. Next time I come to London I will likely try another hotel as there are plenty around the area and I felt no driving force to take me back to the Club Quarters.

Overall very dissatisfied
I was disappointed for the price that I paid. The Hotel seemed poorly maintained and was very noisy. There was a gap under nearly every room door of about an inch. The toilet took multiple attempts to flush. There were times I spent five minutes in the bathroom trying to get the toilet to flush completely. Though I know I did not necessarily pay a premium for the room, ~$180 it was so small that there was no room for a dresser. I guess the night stands were supposed to suffice as dressers. I went to the ironing room, and it was nothing more than a closet that you needed to retrieve the iron and ironing board from to take back to your room, and I had to make room to set it up. The beds were extremely firm, with only one pillow per person. There was one chair to sit at the built in desk. With only one pillow it was very uncomfortable sitting in the bed. We were there over a bank holiday, so the in house restaurant was closed three evenings of the weekend providing only breakfast service. On a positive, it was not far from a tube station. There were other fast serve locations nearby, that were also closed for the holiday. It was almost as if they forgot that part of the hospitality industry was the hospitality and taking care of their guests.

Pleasant, Affordable Stay in London
Our check-in was smooth & easy at a kiosk with the assistance by staff. The space of our room was a bit small (I did hit my shoulder against the wall by the slanted ceiling a couple of times going around the bed and I'm only 5' 2") but had everything we needed for our long weekend in London. Location was perfect for us - we usually prefer being just outside the busy tourist center with access to public transport. We were also excited to discover Leadenhall Market (the real Diagon Alley) was just across the street. Perhaps I was unfamiliar with the proper way to use this particular style of toilet, but we called the front desk informing them we had issues flushing it and they said someone would come... and no one ever did. Eventually we (the bf) figured out that you needed to ‘pump’ water in first before it actually flushed. However, I did love that each floor had a water bottle station with empty water bottles available for you to fill/refill on your way out. This is the first and only time I’ve seen this available at a hotel and I found it a great amenity. We actually kept that same bottle and have been using it throughout our travels in Europe. Also, there is a self-serve coffee kiosk machine available all day long.

Some good, some not so good
Good - Very nice stafff. Good communal lounge with nice quality complimentary drinks and snacks. Interesting building. Excellent location for underground network . Good lifts. Nice toiletries. Lovely shower. Decent hairdryer with plug suitably located near mirror. Yoga mat and exercise band should you feel inclined? Good choice of local restaurants if visiting during the week. Not so good. Rooms rather tired so give the overall impression of being a bit grubby - especially the carpet which has seen better days. Rooms rather small and only had one bedside table. I had to leave water / alarm on the floor. Only one bedside reading light (oddly the side without the table!) Only two pillows for double occupancy- you can ask for more but why not just put them there in the first place? Tricky heating - either over hot or cooler but with noisy aircon. Noisy - I lost count of number of times I was woken by doors closing. And I was woken by baby crying in room at other end of corridor. Very limited meal facilities if visiting at weekend. Only local we found open after 5pm on the Sunday was Weatherspoons next door. It was however more than adequate with good fish & chips, but not quite your fine dining treat!

Very Mixed!
On the positive side, hotel is friendly and in a great location, minutes walk from tube stations and in a quiet area. We arrived at Waterloo and during the week you can use the Waterloo City line to Bank, which is just one stop. The day was sweltering and 3 of us were sharing a room, which was cool and spacious. Free water bottles on every floor and tea and coffee in the lobby as well as in the room was a good idea and the staff really tried to put things right when there were problems, sadly lots of annoying glitches which detracted from our experience On arrival, coffee machine broken but also replacement flask empty. Only herbal tea no ordinary tea in lobby or in bedroom. Only 2 towels for 3 people and at 4.30am the next morning both screens in bedroom lit up and woke us all up. We went out for the day and returned about 10 pm. No loo paper and no sugar in room. Internal phone would not connect so had to use mobile to phone hotel direct In fairness, when we reported these issues they were resolved quickly and we were given free bottles of wine BUT I would far rather have had a good night ‘s sleep and no irritating niggles. We were able to joke about this and place bets as to what would go wrong next!
