Never again. Never.
I have never written a bad review in my life. It’s not my style and my mom taught me if you don’t have anything nice to say. Then don’t say it at all. But this was an absolute joke. First. My reservation was moved even though I had prebooked and Pre paid months ago fully. I was mid holiday and got an email saying the were oversold and moved my suite to another suite and if I didn’t respond it would be cancelled, was very stressful. So that sucked, the other suite upon arrival was very nice so was feeling better. Then.... the room stunk, stunk so bad was hard to sleep, Like rotten food. Only our room, the rest of the hotel smelled great. I discussed with concierge they did nothing, absolutely nothing. Then I ordered a bottle of vodka to the room with accompaniments to host another couple. They charged me for 25 vodka shots. Instead of for a bottle. There goes $300 GBP. Brutal. The free breakfast... was staffed both mornings by people who literally you had to almost grab to acknowledge you. They truly hated their jobs. Day 2 I spoke to reception.. about the stench. They did something. To mask the smell. But by morning it permeated back into the room and stunk again, so bad I had to launder my entire luggage after leaving to Paris. I tried booking a reservation at the rooftop bar... concierge literally got back to me by the time I was in Paris and said... sorry. Just got this. This stay was an epic fail at epic proportions.

Seemed like a good location, but...
We had been to London once before & this seemed like a terrific location. It is close to many sights; however, when we arrived on a Saturday the crush of people & traffic made walking anywhere very challenging. Plus, Trafalgar Square was closed for a festival of some sort, there was a Hong Kong protest march, and throngs of people were pouring out of every tube stop. My advice-don’t pay a premium for this location. Stay somewhere quieter, buy an Oyster card, and take the tube or bus everywhere. As to the hotel itself, it is masquerading as an upscale or high-class hotel or perhaps a solid business-class hotel, but it is neither & has many flaws & seems to be operated to maximize short-term profit. There is practically no lobby, as I understand the former lobby was converted into a restaurant. The top floor has a bar/restaurant open to the public, who then share the already inadequate elevators, which also creates security concerns. The shower floors are very slick, and our first shower had the half wall which ensures a flood on the floor, while our second was too small to do much except get wet. Why did we have 2 rooms? Our first room was supposed to be 300 sq. ft. with a queen bed. It had neither. Worse yet, we were on the end of the building and had loud, pulsating techno rock from an Asian disco next door preventing us from sleeping. Management could do nothing, so we were wandering the London streets at 3-4 a.m. because we couldn’t sleep.

Fabulous rooms, staff, location
Our stay at the Trafalgar St. James was the best hotel experience I have had in 20+ years of coming to London. Our family of four stayed for 6 days in a lovely, large room. Beds and bedding were wonderfully comfortable (and queen sized, not double!), black-out curtains ideal, multiple USB charging ports, free wifi, and lamps and outlets in all the right places. Heating/cooling system was quiet and easy to adjust. Sound-proofing was excellent--we overlooked a busy street and never heard a bit of the traffic or crowds (and nothing from the hallway either). All of the staff, from check-in to the servers at the Rooftop bar to housekeeping, were friendly and enormously helpful, including two concierges who got us dinner reservations on different nights. And then there's the location: amazing! Less than a block to the tube station, walking distance to more tourist attractions than you could count, and multiple shops and restaurants all around. We really got to see more of central London because we weren't spending all our time traveling to and from a hotel. The cherry on top was being able simply to walk across the street to Trafalgar Square to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks ... and then to walk right back home again without having to fight the crowd. We are already recommending this hotel to our friends and hope to stay there again on our next trip!

Very good 8.0
Billing issue n lack of coomunications
Overall is great, but all staffs are seem not sure tge diner package when i booked via, no imforation when check in and cannot see my breakfast was included in 2 night, when we check out and want to charge us the 1 night dinner which we had paid when booked via, then told us that only valid for £35 per pax, but I didn't accept this as they didn't mention when check in, even I had asked reception & restaurant, after reception manager accepted we only need to pay these ice fee £10.88 from the total bil £97, but after I still receive the invoice from hotel to charge me the rest in my credit card, so I had to check with their reception again. Big point to deduce from here , otherwise everything are good for the hotel.

Excellent access hotel.
Excellent overall. One tiny thing was the attitude of one female wait staff person in the restaurant for breakfast. We were seated at a booth, given menus and served coffee. When our meal arrived, I asked for the two missing juices and was rather rudely informed (by the female staff person that happened to be walking by) that we needed to get our own juices from the buffet - as though I should somehow have known that given that everything else was served at our booth. I think the male waitperson was embarrassed by her attitude (or sympathetic to our confusion) and volunteered to get our juices for us. If we had been told about the need to serve ourselves, then there would have been no trouble about doing so. However, being sneered at was irritating.
