Poor 2.0
Worst stay ever
Stayed many times before but on this occasion it was the worst ever. Placed in a room during a heatwave with no air con and no word by staff that it was broke. When requested to move as had to open all windows to get air but couldn’t sleep due to the noise outside, I was then verbally abused and threatened to be kicked out of the hotel and at times the conversation became extreamly worrying and was threatened with physical violence by the on duty manager. 24hrs after I was moved to a smaller room but with air Con but by this time I was severely worried about encountering the duty manager who abused me. In all my years of staying in hotels I have never had this and when I wanted to raise a complaint I was told the hotel wasn’t a part of a group so no point in complaining. The only help I got was through but despite being told they would call me back in a few hours I’m still waiting 3 days later. All in all the worst experience ever, this hotel has the price of a top hotel but believes it can operate like a back street bnb. I really wouldn’t recommend staying here and if you do at all costs avoid Sabastien

Poor 2.0
A budget hotel at premium prices
The most disappointing hotel stay I've ever had. I travel a lot for work and was staying in London for a conference. I decided to pay a bit more to stay in the Ambassador because it looked better than the nearby budget hotels, despite costing quite a bit more. The lobby and outside look nice, but once get in the room it looks quite dated and there is not much space. I could only hang 3 shirts in the wardrobe. There seem to be a lot of communication issues within the hotel. First, I could not check in because my colleague checked in before me (we had booked 2 rooms). There was an issue with the breakfast, apparently, had said we had only paid for the continental breakfast and not the hot breakfast. But the room was very expensive compared to other nearby and so I was surprised there was a fuss over whether I eat from the hot or cold buffet. There was WiFi but a very poor signal, and they encouraged you to pay more for the premium. Again, I had paid more for the room assuming the WiFi would be fine. Another colleague stayed in a nearby hotel at half the cost, he was allowed to eat warm food for breakfast and had no issues with the WiFi. On the last night, there was an issue getting into the rooms because they had accidentally deactivated the room key! Just loads of minor issues. If it was a budget hotel, then I would not be surprised but for this price I was appalled.

OK, but needs a freshen up
For the price, I was disappointed with the quality of the rooms in this hotel. The public areas downstairs were very modern and well presented, but the rooms are badly in need of updating. We were placed in a disabled access room (even though we didn’t require disabled access), the double bed seemed slightly smaller than a standard double and creaked badly at the slightest movement. There was less than a foot of space between the bottom of the bed and the wall so it felt quite cramped. Space on the far side of the bed was the width of the side table, so getting in and out of bed for the person on that side involved clambering over the bed or side stepping against the wall. The wooden furniture in the room was badly chipped and worn-looking. Carpet was stained and a bit worn in places. As it was a disabled room, the bathroom was spacious enough, but it was a wet room (i.e. no bath and no shower enclosure) and since the shower curtain didn’t reach the whole way down to the floor, the entire floor was wet after the shower had been running, which meant a couple of unexpected wet sock/foot moments. The bathroom was adequately clean but not spotless. The temperature on the shower was somewhat erratic. The air con was very noisy and not that effective.

Below standard
Whilst the hotel looks like a nice place to stay the service is unfortunately not up to scratch. As we were just going to sleep the fire alarm was set off, to which we began making our way downstairs. We saw another guest who informed us it was a false alarm but there was no explanation from the hotel staff or procedure in place. We were in the furthest away room at the top of the building. After an uncomfortable nights sleep in the smallest double bed I have seen in a hotel the fire alarm went off again as I had just got out of the shower. This was a schedules alarm test however there was no mention of this on check in that this set for every Monday morning. Considering we stayed on a Sunday evening this would have been a courteous thing to do. An unpleasant stay for a nice area.

good location--tiny room
the room was really, really tiny. I'm used to small room from New York City, but this beat every hotel I've ever been in. 2 hangers in the tiny closet for clothes. housekeeping is very good, but carpet is dated. Would not recommend for people with dust allergies. Bathroom is nice, but floor will get get all over when you shower. Nice feature is the warm towel rack, very much enjoyed the warm towel. As for the room: tiny, dark, looking straight at windows of another building. Staff other than housekeeping: moderately friendly and can be kind of harsh. When I arrived from an overnight flight asking if early check in might be possible, I received a stern lecture that rules clearly state 3 pm check in. Yes, of course, I knew-- all I did was ask. I did get early check in, so all turned out ok, but the lecture and tone was unnecessary. Overheard other customer requests being treated similarly.
