Have stayed here before and it’s a beautiful hotel, but drilling started this morning at 8:30am with no warning. I told reception, but he said he didn’t know about it until he came in after 9. It continued until we checked out at 10 because we couldn’t relax with the noise.

Tired condition and poor uncaring management
I awarded one extra star for the view of the Tower but condition and service was very poor. I had a faulty heating unit which sounded like a tractor and did not work. Reported to reception twice and nothing was done to sort out and eventually the unit packed up altogether at about 11. It was one of the coldest winters nights and we were freezing. So much for a special occasion. Next morning complained again but no satisfactory conclusion to the problem - they just didn’t care.

One of the worst stays ever, will not be back
The hotel is run down and extremely loud. We booked a bridge view room and were given a room with a minuscule window, not what was shown in the photos while booking. The shower was awkward and odd, the tiling was rotting, the shower head was loose sticking out of the wall, the toilet never functioned properly. Mirrors were unclean and cloudy the whole stay, water spots and splashes everywhere, the carpets were stained, and we were never given clean glasses, the dirty old ones just flipped upside down again. There was loud and smelly/fumey construction we were not warned about. There was missing art in the halls and rooms that looked as though they had been broken into. The hotel payment system was down upon arrival so just after landing and being so tired we had to stand at the front desk waiting for payment links etc that did not work. All and all a terrible loud dirty stay. No coffee or coffee making set up in the rooms.

Fabulous London
Very nice hotel next to The Tower of London. Plenty of interesting places to visit. Nice room, staff excellent, the restaurant food menu was limited, even the VU bar. A tad expensive even for London, £12 for a glass of Malibu, overall though I would recommend it.

A couple of pictures. The hotel is tired and the room did not match those advertised. I was initially assigned a room that I could not get to as that area of the hotel was shuttered off and under refurbishment. There was poor/lack of safety signage giving direction around the refurb. The second room I was assigned did exist, but not as I had expected given the advert.

Its all about the view!
This hotel for me is all about the view! We always book a bridge view room but missed out on the executive rooms this time and it makes a difference. The standard rooms are very old fashioned and out of date - if it wasn't for the view out the window I wouldn't have been too happy. A little time to do the rooms up would go a long way.
