Sloan Square Stay
We arrived at the Sloan Square Hotel at approx. 10 AM and asked if there were any possibility to get an early check in as we were totally Jetlagged from the trip in from the US. They said they would try and to try back in an hour. if you were vocal and insistent that you were better served as I witnessed a woman speak to the front desk staff saying something "was unacceptable" they promised her a room in 15 minutes. I watched from a distance as they filled out the check-in documents and then took a seat to await their room. I approached the desk and asked the young lady who checked me in and mentioned that there was a couple who were told they would get their room in 15 minutes - she told me she didn't know what I was talking about and that the rooms looked like it would take an hour or so to get ready. I took my seat in the lobby and calmly waited. Another couple came in filled out paperwork and were taken to their rooms. So I made a mental note to book a room an additional day if I were to ever come back so we could check in earlier ( worth the additional cost) We got to our rooms at 12:30PM and found it to be larger than anticipated. It was nicely appointed and had a great view of Sloan Square, there were a few places in the room that looked a bit aged, worn, had me question the cleanliness- had to ask for end table for my side of bed, but bed was super comfy, bathroom clean, great location and convenience to all! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Disappointed in Lack of Meaningful Compensation
Although the hotel is actually a lovely boutique hotel in a great part of London, the room #408 that I was assigned (facing the Church) kept having technical issues with the air conditioning. Upon advising the front desk of the matter, they did look into it & discovered they could not get a technician in for a few days so they offered to move my son & I to another room. They moved us to the exact same room, but the floor below us (Room #309). Both my father and step-mother & my sister and brother-in-law were also staying at this hotel at the same time as us. Notably, both of their rooms were bigger & nicer than ours despite basically the same nightly charge. I was disappointed that we did not get an upgrade. Sadly, the new room (which had less natural lighting) also had air conditioning issues & no upgrade or compensation was offered at this point until our very last night. Upon checking out, AGAIN no compensation was offered which disappointed me greatly. Upon raising it with the hotel representative helping me out at the front desk, she offered to cover the mini bar charges (a whopping GBP18.00) & gave my son a hotel teddy bear worth GBP17.00. But, the fact that I wasn't even upgraded to a larger room or compensated in any meaningful way was very disappointing. Had we been upgraded to a bit of a larger or better room, at least that would have been proper customer service. Rather, it felt like we were downgraded.

Used to love it but....
hotel is nice although they struggle to keep up with housekeeping. Our room was cleaned once our entire three day stays when we enquired about having it cleaned new towels did appear but the tea cups remained dirty, the amenities were not replaced and the mini bar was not restocked. We were charged wrongly for an additional room which hotel.com could see was cancelled and rebooked by us as a prepaid room. Even though we addressed this immediately upon checkin when we were made aware of the problem, the hotel insisted on charging us. At the time I checked in there was some other guest desperate to get an additional room and I kept pointing out that we were wrongly being held two rooms when we needed one. The manager ignored me and apparently the room sat empty for which we have no paid for. I was assured the reservation manager would call me but she never did. I have always loved this hotel but now will not being staying there as I am so out off by the way we were treated and the lack of understanding by the hotel staff. They seemed unable to comprehend that no one in their right mind would book a room, cancel it immediately and book the prepaid rate for a better room at a cheaper rate. So sad that what used to be a sweet local hotel has now fallen into the category of inflexible and impersonal. The worst part is they didn't care about their other guest either who gladly would have taken the room. Everyone at the counter was dumbfounded ;( And to think they care so litt

Good 6.0
I recently had a very pleasant stay at the Sloane Square Hotel but was dismayed when I returned home and reviewed the receipt that I received for my credit card payment at the hotel and the itemized statement that I was given when I checked out, that I had been double charged for breakfast and that I had been charged in $$ including a 3% transaction fee for the currency conversion when I had requested that I be charged in GBP as I have a credit card which does not charge foreign transaction fees when I checked in. Clearly, I should have reviewed both the receipt and itemized statement before paying but unfortunately I was in a hurry to catch the Eurostar to Paris. I emailed the hotel requesting 5 days ago to the reception email address on the hotel web site requesting reimbursement for the double breakfast charge and reconsideration of the 3% transaction fees but have had no response from the hotel. I calculate that I was unnecessarily charged almost $200 for the double breakfast charge and the transaction fees which has not left me feeling very good about the Sloane Square Hotel.

Just OK
Overall it was just OK. We stayed 5 nights, room was very small plus the bathroom was even smaller. I know rooms are generally small in London but when you are paying so much money per night and staying a number of nights I felt we should have been offered a bigger room, as i know this hotel has different size rooms. I was very disappointed to learn while checking out that we could have availed of coffee until 6pm and then had a glass of wine after 6pm in their new 1st floor lounge. This could have made up for the lack of space in the room. However we were not made aware of this facility at the time of checking in. The one thing this hotel has in its favor is its location.
