Really very poor
A somewhat frustrating experience overall despite being fairly reasonably priced for the area - roughly £60 for the night but booked well in advance and midweek so perhaps the low-ish price makes sense.
Disembarking the tube, we called ahead to enquire about the possibility of an early check in only to be told it would be £30 extra - fair enough, I thought, and we politely declined and agreed to wait until 2pm… I then noticed a sign on reception stating £20 for early check in when we arrived! Not great!!
The receptionist was a bit short with us and rushed us through the check in process quite unnecessarily - business didn’t appear to be booming… and we were also informed the double room I had booked was in fact a “family room” on the lower floor.
I stress at this point, this was NOT an upgrade.
Typically, you’d expect a family room to have furniture beyond a double bed, three single beds laid out concentration camp style in an adjoining space PLUS a single chair but not at the Carlton!
The comfiest place in the entire room happened to be the toilet located in a shower room that may as well have been tagged onto the main room with duct tape.
We departed for our evening plans and returned a little after 11pm to a non-functioning room key. Okay, fine.. these things happen.
Off to reception for help where an exceptionally loud resident had discovered the £5 WiFi charge - she demanded a refund from the staff member should the WiFi prove to be non-functional and he took the
