Park Plaza Westminster
Except for the fact that our room was not as clean as one should expect (the previous night's dinner trays still in front of our door when we checked in after 2:30 and living room /kitchen also needed a reclean), the suite was great although I would highly recommend they change their sofa bed couch - the "couch" itself was very uncomfortable to sit in - although stylish - not one you can sit comfortably on. Also, when we wanted to eat a small breakfast in their restaurant, we were told that we had to purchase their breakfast buffet for 19 pounds and an additional 4 pounds if we wanted to upgrade to add ons - so because we only wanted toast and jam and eggs benedict, it would have cost us 23 pounds for these two items ($39 CDN per person) - which was ridiculous. They only catered breakfast buffet but not any other menu. Needless to say, we did not stay for breakfast. Other than that, the location was great - you could walk everywhere within reason and the Waterloo tube station was just down the block. Concierge services were excellent - helped out greatly. If you want spa services, book well in advance to your check-in. We were there in June and for 3 nights/4 days and slim pickings to get in when you're there.

Great Location only!
The cleaning team left something to be desired. They 1/2 cleaned the room and did the bare min. My kids were supposed to be sleeping on the sofa bed . When we pulled it out , the sheets were stained (blood I think, who knows!). It was like no one thoroughly checked the room before reassigning it. Maybe because we reserved thru hotels.com, they gave us a bad view and cramped room . Further, I called about the bloody stain and they did come right away and made the sofa bed with clean sheets. The next day they removed the sheets and didn’t make it. It was as if they said, “here are the sheets, catch and make it yourself”. and then they didn’t remake the sofa bed for us but left the sheets , folded on it. Also , we had to call for a replenishment of soap, shampoo and yes even toilet paper. I was so embarrassed for my family. They could have vacuumed a couple of times during our 9day stay and more importantly, dusted. When my husband complained to the reception desk, they did offer breakfast and we felt like they were putting us near the toilets when they told us to go into the basement when we wanted to be in the upstairs restaurant. The sink was clogged on the first day. It was very disappointing to write the least. On my last night , I called the front desk and said I did not want anything from them but I wanted them to know that it shows when they have staff that don’t care about doing an excellent job. A half job is a half-ass job. That’s my experience here.

Stay 25-27 Aug 19: The majority of the staff members from the check-in, restaurant, and breakfast buffet sections of the hotel were outstanding. The bar area needs customer service training. The room was filthy. I have a toddler moving about the room, and there was a nasty bottle hiding behind the curtain, which from the looks had been there for quite some time. The sofa bed concealed carpet areas with thrash that had not been vacuumed. I wanted to store a cake in the refrigerator. As I moved the stocked bar, it looked as if one cola/beverage leaked and was sticky. The cake did not fit anyway, so I moved everything back to the fridge. I complained to the night shift manager about one having to wait an hour after I arrived at 1600 to the hotel for a room, and that the room they gave me was dirty. She was helpful (sorta). I told her about all the dirty areas, and she focused on me moving the items out of the refrigerator to make room for my cake. Upon check-out, somehow I was charged for everything in the bar. That was correct on the spot. I stayed at this hotel last year, and thought this hotel was most definitely a 5-star. After this past trip, I would consider it a 3-star. Im not sure what happened in a year's span.

Exceptional 10.0
Excellent 6 night stay in the heart of London
This is an absolutely fabulous hotel. Let me start by saying that staff bend over backwards to make you feel right at home. They were consistently nice and accommodating, what we really appreciated was that they understood that travelling with a young child is never easy yet they were very accommodating with my requests. The room was spacious and surprisingly quiet even though we were facing the busy street there was little outside noise penetrating through the windows. The hotel was very busy this week with a number of conferences and workshop this may be a testament to its high quality service. I did not feel like I was less of a guest based on the busy nature of the hotel. It’s location is ideal for walking to many major attractions like the London eye, the aquarium, Big Ben (even though he is under repair at present) Westminster Abbey. It is well served by a number of tube stations like Westminster, Waterloo and Lambeth North. There are many bus routes that serve Oxford street the changing of the guards etc. I case of an emergency the world renown St Thomas’s hospital is almost opposite to this hotel. The room we stayed I had a microwave separate sink for dishes and a few items such as wine glasses, cereal bowls timber’s and coffee mugs. There were also a few plates and a kettle with complimentary tea and coffee and hot chocolate. There are onsite restaurants and breakfast areas but just a few blocks away on Lower Marsh street you can find an array of food

Our experience wasn't the best but still worth it.
So we arrived at 2:30 pm and tried to get an early check in (check in is at 3). They seemed very willing but said our room wasn't ready yet and to give them 30 minutes. Reasonable seeing as we were 30 minutes early. We got our room keys at 3:45 which was annoying but understandable. Our room was very nice and clean but the toilet didn't flush very easily. Not sure if this is normal for the London area. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. Beautiful view and within walking distance of most places any tourist would want to go. Halfway through the week long trip, hotel staff stopped replacing our towels so we had to request new towels. When we received our bill for the stay, we found that we had been charged for £20 worth of items from the mini bar that we hadn't touched. We didn't even open the door to see what was in there (probably where we messed up). We didn't say anything about it because we had to leave very early and didn't think £20 worth missing our flight. I assume this is a result of poor room inspection prior to our check in and we paid for the previous guests mini bar items. So overall, not the best experience I have ever had but also no where near the worst. I would recommend the hotel to anyone solely based on the location but the hotel is nice too. I suspect our experience was mostly circumstantial and that most other guests have better experiences.
