the hotel is amazing - cheap and great location! BUT the staff over the phone were not great, gave very crypic answer, thankfully the in person staff were amazing! would stay again, now i know the works

Perfectly acceptable for an overnight stay. A little basic, but everything was clean and staff were friendly

4/10

Really bad. Small bedroom, tiny tiny bathroom, bath half length, no bath taps, stairs carpets and walls like from a horror movie (no exaggeration) Shocking.
1-night trip

6/10

The bed was very comfortable and clean, the room super spacious, and the shower had excellent water pressure. Everything was very clean. Although the building itself is quite old and could really use some renovation, the location was perfect for my plans in London. There's an excellent bakery just a 2-minute walk from the hotel, Regent’s Park is only 10 minutes away, and Baker Street offers a variety of restaurants. The Sherlock Holmes Museum is also just around the corner, on the street behind the hotel. The only downside was that the price felt a bit high considering the condition of the building and I was a solo traveller.

Loved the service and the proximity to what we needed.

The place is conveniently located near several underground stations in the very safe, clean neighborhood. The concierge was very helpful with directions to local restaurants, navigations, etc. the only issue our group had is the complete lack of ventilation in the bathroom which is a problem for 5 people sharing the same room

If you want cheap in a good location.. Ideal... If you want new and swanky this isn't it.
1-night trip

10/10

Excellent hotel staff. Hotel itself was a little outdated but fit for purpose and had a small fan in room, which was handy this time of year.

This is an old (by US standards) building with lots of intricate details, BUT, I think they are trying to remodel/restore it, and the walls still need paint, there is duct tape on the stairs carpet inside and outside the building and the room was small. We had to go to the dark, somewhat dinghy lobby for coffee and if you needed the front desk person, you had to ring a bell. We did feel safe in this busy neighborhood with all the tube stations, coffee shops and restaurants. A 45 minute walk got us to Trafalgar Square and a 20 minute walk got us to Regents Park. Emilia's restaurant was FANTASTIC! And just around the corner

Clean room & bathroom/shower, comfortable clean bed. Lovely old house turned into an affordable hotel. Stairways a bit tired. Excellent location for tube within central London. Friendly staff & a relaxing reception area on ground floor for coffee etc, perfect room from a bygone era!
2-night trip

6/10

Everything was good for the price, the halls if the hotel should be renovated but they're working on it at the moment. Central London, great location, good prices, just needs to be updated. Staff are friendly and helpful.
2-night trip

8/10

Very budget. No soap to wag hands only one towel between 2 people. Rooms clean but very untidy and in a mess. Bathroom clean but tiny broken tiles leaking toilet.
1-night trip

6/10

Basic accommodation for the able body person who doesn’t want to go out later than 12am. Bathroom, bedding clean. Ideal for a quick stop over, it served its purpose
1-night trip

6/10

Pros: 1. Cheap 2. Close to public transport & tourism 3. Comfortable to relax in room Cons: 1. WiFi constantly disconnected 2. No amenities in room 3. Floors and walls very think and creak with every step.
3-night trip

6/10

George on reception was the best aspect of the hotel. He was very pleasant.
1-night trip

2/10

Lovely owner and clean sheets but those are the only positives. Broken tiles in the bathroom, no soap, no glasses or tea cups no wardrobe or place to hang clothes. Torn carpet on the stairs, no answer when the on call number was rung and one of the rooms wasn't ready over an hour after check-in. This shouldn't be a hotel. If the price was halved and the place advertised as a hostel it would likely get much better reviews, especially considering the excellent location.

My stay at Somerset Hotel was disappointing due to several maintenance issues. The property appears run-down and in need of renovation. The shower lacked hot water, making it uncomfortable to use, and the towels had an unpleasant odor. Additionally, the windows could not be opened, which affected ventilation and overall comfort. I hope management takes these concerns into account to improve the guest experience.

2/10

- they placed me in a "temporary" room cause the one I booked was going through a renovation - they never told me when I was supposed to make the move, they just left a key on my table one day with a room number on it, when I went to the new room someone else was there - once they moved me into a third room the room did not have soap nor shampoo, not a trash can and NO toilet paper! they did nothing about it and I tried contacting them on three different times but nobody was around, no-one on the front desk, nothing
3-night trip

The hotel was not clean overall. The room was dirty especially the bathroom. The key pad at the main entrance is faulty, we struggled to get in after midnight. The staff were nice. The area is nice. Shops close by and a tube station.
1-night trip

4/10

Somerset House is cheap, but the building is in dire need of a total overhaul. The chap at the desk was friendly, but the room was tired and the sound of creaking floorboards kept me awake for much of the night.
1-night trip

4/10

We stayed here with our two children as was heading to Lords for the cricket. Great location for that and a nice big room with two doubles but other than that this is a hotel we will not be returning too. Our room was really very tired, broken chair in room, carpets torn and held down with tape on stairs, one of the bed was so saggy it made us laugh, the bathroom was grim, toilet needed descaling, broken floor tiles, wood on edge of bath was damp and rotten, ceiling paint was peeling. It could be a wonderful hotel given some love and the staff we met were lovely.
1-night trip

4/10

Hotel level of cleanliness across the hotel was poor, my pillow had a blood stain on it and the room towels were dirty. One of the rooms had a tiny bath but no shower. The quality of furniture in room was very poor and sparse. The overall quality of the building was poor and looked to be under construction. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Price was around £150 per room/night, which doesn't seem to reflect the low quality of the hotel.
1-night trip

Clean, which is good, but decoration half finished. A bit of a building site. Half the slats on the bed had fallen through, barely useable. Location is good though, and friendly staff.
