Weekend Break in Central London
Was looking forward to staying at MStay after having read up about the apartments offered and location. Booked a double studio room however got a triple room with an extra single bed. Given that the studio was already cramped this was not at all ideal - and not what I had booked. Nor was the 'double bed' that is advertised a true sized double bed; it was a three quarter bed. We were asked to pay a deposit for damages at the time of check-in however this was not advertised at time of booking however emailed to you separately therefore came as a bit of a surprise. The air conditioning did not work and nothing was offered to resolve the issue. Reception promised to look into it but never did. At the very least we would have been happy with a fan in the room on a hot weekend. There was a little kitchenette with a hob and microwave (no oven) but the dishes were dirty and looked as though they had not been cleaned properly from previous use. A few of the reviews complained of the smell of smoke in the rooms and this is very true. This was unpleasant especially when using the shower. After complaining, the woman at reception literally shrugged her shoulders and said that she could give us some air fresheners. All in all felt a bit cheated that we hadn't received what I had booked (i.e. what is advertised on the hotel's page) and reception aren't bothered in the least to help resolve any issues. Pros: good location in central London with good transport links and stylish decor.

TINY TINY TINY
Most rooms at this hotel are just way too small to provide a comfortable stay and not the size advertised on hotels.com. When I booked they stated and still do that the rooms were either 194 or 215 square feet and there is no way the standard room which I have circled in the photo and most floors have 4 of these identical rooms are anywhere near that size. I was staying over 2 weeks and was lucky enough to be able to change to a slightly larger room after 2 nights which was appreciated. I really think they have tried to cram too many rooms into what I assume was once an elegant single family home. I doubt the standard rooms are over 140 square feet and made more impractical by having doors on the small kitchenette which you can't easily pass when open and most of the things you need to use are on the floor under the sink including the electrical outlets. In addition to the small size of the rooms both rooms i stayed in were incredibly noisy with noise coming from adjacent rooms, the plumbing ( I think every tap or toilet connected into a pipe in my wall) and noise from the street. The place was kept very clean by the daily housekeeping staff, the a/c worked really well s did the internet and the staff were great. The location is great with two underground stations on different lines a short walk from the hotel as well as a good bus service and a ton of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops nearby.

Very good
This hotel is like a london house, just refurbished to be a hotel. Stayed a total of 5 nights with no issues. Chose here because it was well located to chinese restaurants, as well as its proximity to the central, circle/district line and bus services. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a triple room and the room felt bigger in general. Nonetheless, there was an additional bed in the room that was not needed, and there was no floor space to open our luggage, so we placed our luggage on the additional bed. Otherwise, our queen size bed was comfortable and the TV was of a good size. There's a little latch/table that can be used to eat while watching tv. Did not utilise the kitchenette. I tend to be picky about my toilet standards, but I thought this toilet was decent. Its not huge, but I felt comfortable with the space. I particularly liked the shower head/rain shower feature because they used the grohe brand and the water pressure was very comfortable after a long day out. My only gripe about the location is that there's not short cut to the streets leading to the tube stations, so we had to walk a big round to get to the hotel which was in the middle of Queensborough Terrace.

Very disappointed with basement room as our e mail had said 1st floor. Sounds of running water every time anyone flushed toilet or used a shower (sounded like heavy rain) especially during the night. Fire door next to our room led to metal steps which was used frequently by staff for a cigarette break. Couldn't keep the window open for the smell of smoke. Twice the room was not cleaned when we came back around 4.00pm. The first time we went out again whilst they did it and the second time we just exchanged the towels and received a toilet roll. On the plus side the reception staff tried to be helpful. Offered a 2nd floor room (smaller than the basement one) but the wife does not like lifts which was why we booked no higher than the 1st floor. Will not be staying there again.

So tiny....
The room was so small we could barely walk around the beds. We struggled finding places to put away our things - which is difficult for me because I have to unpack as soon as we arrive somewhere. There was a hair clip stuck between the bed and the side table, and a greasy spot on the wall which makes me question cleanliness. Walls were super thin. I could hear the neighbors phone alarm in the morning as if it were right beside me. They also had a toddler who cried every morning- so that was fun. I think in the future, we’d stay somewhere else.
