Great hotel, luxury feel, very central location
Our weekend break at Apex Temple Court Hotel was a great experience. We were provided with a free room upgrade on arrival, along with a small box of chocolates for my girlfriend, which was a lovely touch. The room was of a good size, very clean, and the bed really comfy. The wall-mounted flatscreen TV, with Sky channels (incl. Sky movies) was a brilliant addition and the rainfall shower was fantastic. On the downside, the main entrance to the hotel from Fleet Street was boarded up for construction work... so entrance is now via the courtyard at the back... losing the grand impression when first arriving that you expect from the photos of the hotel with the elephant statue. Also, we ordered room service a couple of times and this caused a few minor problems. First we ordered an evening meal and were told it would be 20 minutes - it took 50 mins to arrive, which resulted in us rushing it down as we had tickets to a West End show. Also they got the dessert order wrong. Then, we also had issues with the room service breakfast, due to the menu card you hang on the door being very unclear when ordering for 2 people - something even the staff admitted they found confusing. Finally, at check out, the bill was not itemised, so we asked to check it and the Reception staff really struggled to identify what we had been charged for, due to an overly complicated system being used. Overall, a great experience and we'd stay again. Just some minor improvements needed to the room service.

Very good 8.0
Stayed at this hotels for 5 nights for pleasure at the end of May. Room: Upgraded to Deluxe king including the club lounge. The sofa was directly at the foot of the bed, so it wasn't really a separate area as I imagined (we had a 4 person table tucked in a nook that was never used other than to lay things on top of it), but all the same the room was great for five days, massive and lovely bathroom: huge soaking tub, large shower. Club lounge: includes continental breakfast in the mornings (decent selection of cured meat, cheese, pastry, cereals, nespresso/tea). The website lists alcoholic refreshments - there's a red, a white wine- and Heineken for beer. There's also a tonics, coke, diet coke, and my favorite - sparkling water! In the afternoon they had little sandwiches, scones, but no snacks (no crisps, chocolate, etc as you would expect) in the evening. Staff: very nice, helpful.Though whenever we walked through the lobby the several people behind the desk did not make eye contact with us or say hello, which was strange. Location: very central & walkable, though the neighborhood is a business district so it's pretty dead on the weekend. Blackfriars station is 7 min walk Odd things: I requested a birthday banner for my partner to be hung one day (offered via email), and it didn't show up with was a bummer; however simply removed the charge at checkout. At night they had loud music/tv in the courtyard until around 10 PM, only affected us the last night.

Good 6.0
Terrible start....slightly happier ending.
I chose this venue for a few reasons. It was my wife's 40th Birthday so I needed a special place to stay and this hotel appeared to tick the boxes. Expedia showed the room as very sizeable, the entrance was unique (beautifully lit and with large elephant statue, etc.) and the reviews were mostly impressive. Upon arrival we discovered the entrance i'd been drawn to boarded up and completely under construction! There was no signs to say how we should enter the hotel and we walked round and round til we found another way in. We were greeted well, but when asked if I was having a good day by the Receptionist I said "I was until I found your front entrance completely blocked and I couldn't find a way in". She didn't say a word, just looked up, smirked and made a "hmph" sound and went back to her keyboard. It's my wife's birthday, I'm not going to make a scene so I left it. I had ordered the hotels Birthday Balloons service so there was another nice surprise in the room. The service said balloons (plural!) and showed a picture of SEVERAL red helium balloons. My wife opened the door to find ONE lonely balloon floating in a room which was easily 3 times smaller than the pics on Expedia had advertised. Obviously I was beyond disappointed for my wife. However, upon complaining the balloons were refunded, we were given a bottle of wine and the Customer Mgr offered a future upgrade and was very apologetic and courteous. Not perfect, but a good save I guess.

Nice hotel but...
The hotel is nice, clean and well located. Staff were friendly. There were dirty sheets, towels and rubbish in the hallway and dirty room service plates in the corridor when we checked in and these were still there when we went to bed over 8 hours later. If you get a good room then all should be fine but if you value your privacy and don't want to to have to keep the curtains closed all day make sure you don't get a room on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard. There is literally a floor to ceiling window where everyone can see everything in your room. These shouldn't even be used as guest rooms. We were given a room upgraded upon check in (not due to the hotels goodwill but due to being a gold member). The room was large, spotlessly clean, bed comfy, Sky TV and Nespresso in the room. But as mentioned, the fact we couldn't have any natural light was horrible. There is a blind but it's see through so you have to draw the black out curtains as well to have any privacy. Although we didn't spend much time in the room, not being able to open the curtains when you wake up or when you pop back to the room at the end of the afternoon before dinner isn't great. We did not ask to change as had to go out within half hour of arriving and did not arrive back to the room till late. Due to the risk of getting a room with no privacy we wouldn't book this hotel again.

Best hotel in London so far
Just stayed at the Temple Court to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The hotel to date is the best I have stayed at in London. Location was good (though there is a walk to the nearest tube station about 10 mins), along Fleet Street, a 15-minute walk to the Strand/Covent Garden area. Travel tip – to note that most of the shops/cafes along Fleet Street are closed at the weekend, as this is mainly a business area, so if you are looking for a café to have breakfast turn left towards the Strand/Covent Garden area. After a nice upgrade we were given a very quiet room overlooking the square (big thumbs up) nice amenities, such as mini-bar, good TV (with Sky news) and clean bathroom separate shower and bath, iron/ironing board and Tea/coffee making facilities. The staff at the reception desk are the friendliest I have come across in London very obliging and courteous. I will definitely book this hotel next time I stay in London. If I had a criticism it would be an overview of London hotel prices, on this occasion I could only afford room only, booking a City Room not able to enjoy the benefits of a Club Room and also not able to try the breakfast as this was and added expense.
