Nice hotel but not 100% what I needed
Nobu was sparkling clean in terms of the hotel room and lobby. The food in the lobby is really good too -- I got breakfast a couple times and it was very clean in terms of ingredients. The building seems really new and it has a feel like you're staying in a yacht just because of the shape and stuff. My only issue with the room was that there were no power outlets hardly anywhere. None in the bathroom so I had to blowdry and straighten my hair in the hallway of the room. The bathroom was great though -- felt very Grecian with the white shower and decor. Bathrobe and turn-down service was a nice touch too. Bed was super comfy. Not much to watch on TV but not a deal breaker. There was also no nice view from the window of my room, just overgrown weeds and some graffiti. If I were to choose though I'd try another hotel in the area next time just to have a bigger room and better situation with getting ready in the morning. There was also construction going on on the roof which my husband said he heard (trash being dumped etc) though I didn't hear it. The area though is really cool with all the hipster restaurants/pubs and my job was a 10 min walk so I can't complain. Tube stop was about a 6 min walk away too so overall it was a good stay experience.

My favorite hotel in London
I stay in London about 12 weeks per year for work and always stay at the Nobu Hotel in Shoreditch. The architect did an amazing job from the gold finishes to the light dimmers and sliding privacy walls on the windows in each room. The restaurant is very good and their drinks - excellent. The weekend brunch is not to be missed either. It is very popular with the locals. Their staff is also very attentive - on my recent stay of 10 nights, they asked me at breakfast if I would like to order something off of a different menu for breakfast, since I had the same thing every day for the previous 7 days. I also love how well-equipped the gym is, and if you’re staying the weekend they also host yoga in the hotel. The hotel is very comforting and relaxing. The room temperature was always perfect. They really thought about the lighting, aroma, and the music they play at night. After a hard day at work, I feel immediately calm when I walk into the hotel. I also appreciate the high speed internet, which meant I could FaceTime/Skype home with full quality video and sound and download music and stream movies too. For improvements, I'd suggest is having more affordable options for room service. I found myself ordering delivery or stepping out most nights to eat (there are so many options in the neighborhood). Also, for guests that have breakfast included in their rates, a healthier option would be nice (besides the two available, with the Full English option being pretty heavy).

Better Pictures Than Experience
With beautiful images that make the Nobu Hotel appear to be an oasis in Shoreditch, I was struck by how completely opposite my experience was — in fact more like a mirage. For those expecting a hotel experience on par with a US Nobu experience. Stay away. At street level, there is no surrounding garden, lovely a rendering as it is. It is a building sandwiched in a back alley sans quite street that is surrounding by construction and buildings all around. From the door to the front desk experience, everyone appeared to be overwhelmed, as if they'd come to postions with hotel training. Friending, yes. Attentive, aware and capable of meeting or succeeding expectations — not so much. From the inability to discuss room types and upgrades to the inability to describe where a tea kettle — an amenity in each room — was located and where it needed to be plugged in. I spend 45 mins and multiple calls trying to get that sorted. The hallways are incredibly noisy with hard surfaces throughout and the doors are close, You'll hear doors slamming particularly in the evening and especially in the morning. Hotel staff in the morning are the worst offenders going in and out of doors to check who has vacating a room and slamming every door as they enter multiple times. Quick suggestion. Train your staff to hold/guide the door close. It will create an immensely different experience for guests.

Stunning interior, clean, comfortable, luxurious
Upon entering the hotel, a king gentleman offered to take my bag for me and place it in the lobby while I waited to check in. The polite lady behind the check in desk advised us we needed to make a payment of £80 as a deposit for any room damage, which was fine but perhaps should be mentioned at the time of booking. It was disappointing that after 6-7 hours of travelling, the room was not ready. I left my luggage at the hotel and went away to a nearby bar. The staff member told me she will text me when the room was ready. Hours passed by and I did not receive a text which was even more disappointing as all I wanted to do was relax after a long day and freshen up. It got to about 5:30pm when I finally decided to head back to the hotel myself to see if my room was available and at last it was, they just didn't bother to inform me as promised. The porter helped me to the room, showed me how to use certain facilities. He was a kind gentleman, very polite and provided excellent customer service. I wish I remembered his name!! The room itself was beautiful, excellent facilities, comfortable robes, clean and luxurious room and bathroom. Cannot fault it! Overall, a great stay but a shame the room was not ready when I really needed it and the check-in staff did not do what they promised to do.

stayed 8 nights early August
Great location heart of Shoreditch, quiet street Beautiful building, room and public spaces Glamorous bar, restaurant Was value for money as still not fully finished Front desk, bar and housekeeping excellent very helpful Asked at checkout how stay was and was honest so not charged for consumables a very good recovery! CONS Doorman asked if we were staying every time we returned say 16+ times DUH! 640 $ deposit requested despite prepaid accommodation Rooms have only beautiful Japanese tea set - 'cup' when filled burns Bathroom design: makeup spot is for a midget, nowhere to plug in hair dryer or straightener Can hear bathroom next door being used, at 3.30 am - shower did not drain fast enough for volume of water Drilling at 7.30am - totally unacceptable especially as trying to bank sleep for an imminent 27 hours international flight Farce booking restaurant - text confirming then text cancelling same day Actually walked in to dine later one evening but experience was not brilliant as expected staff explained condescendingly how to read the menu (DUH!) rather than what was unique about the Nobu dishes which didn't bode well Waiting staff not up to the job (did not deliver everything ordered and the kitchen closed) left early and was replaced by someone who obviously didn't want to be serving us, table next door full of men with drunk or drugged escorts - not a good look! Food okay but not in my mind standout for the prices Access by car difficult still
