A very pleasant few days at The Esplanade.
I just booked this Hotel as a spur of the moment thing with my 15 y/o Son. The twin room with sea view was basic but functional. Everything worked and it was clean. At £150 for the 3 nights I thought it excellent value. Worth the extra £20 for the sea view although more side sea view really but the view looking over to The Grand Hotel and Scarborough sea front was wonderful to just gaze at with a coffee or a beer. We did not eat at the Hotel but enjoyed a drink in the bar in the afternoon for an hour. The Staff were always friendly and helpful. Overall we were very impressed. The only down side was the TV in the room was small but I stood really close to it to watch England v Wales which gave it a "Big Screen" effect haha However the TV had a DVD function so we could watch films in the evening as my Son does not like going out when its dark. Would I stay there again ? Yes :)

A comfortable and warm stay
A large, well heated hotel with some lovely views. Good plumbing, plenty of hot water, adequate single beds with very good bedlinen and two nice old windows in our bedroom on the 2nd floor looking north to a beach and castle and town inland. The buffet breakfast was administered by friendly waitresses, and was tasty. Sliced bread and cold small 'Danish' pastries were uninspiring. I've never seen a croissant sealed in a little plastic packet before. There was a free singer entertaining a group of about 15 guests at 9pn whose sings and repartee we enjoyed. And the hotel bar area was very comfortable, if old fashioned, and the bar prices surprisingly cheap.

Nice Hotel.
The hotel was easy to find, parking is a bit tight but managed to get in. The room was on the 2nd floor around the corner from the lift, which was handy. the room itself was spacious and airy. We had lovely views out over the beach & harbour on 1 side the other was out over the sea. Both me & my wife had a good nights sleep over two nights and we will try again, to get this hotel in the summer. The staff were very helpful and polite with the service being near to excellent. Overall we enjoyed our say.

Still tired, but cheap and decent value
This is an economical option for a cheap break. It's decoratively shabby but clean, fantastic location, bar prices good, food ok and available. It seems to be in financial difficulties, so I hope it's still there next time we want to go.
