Brilliant and it hasn’t finished yet
I would absolutely recommend the Whistlefield Inn. Friendly staff, very comfortable, cosy room, great views and great food. Great value for money all round. Good base for seeing what this area has to offer. Would definitely return.
Lisa and the lovely staff at the Whistlefield were delightful. Lovely restaurant and bar was a great way to unwind. The room was really lovely and comfortable. The highlight though was their gorgeous 14 week old Great Dane puppy.
We spent two fabulous nights at The Whistlefield Inn - our last two in Scotland. We were warmly received and attended to throughout our stay. The room (an attic room with a view of Loch Eck) was comfortable and well-appointed. The view was outstanding! Well worth the small extra cost to book the loch-view room. The breakfast offering was comprehensive and they were willing to cater for our early departure to catch a flight. It was about 1 hours 20 mins drive from Glasgow airport so an easy journey. The bar was also lovely. We didn't want to leave!
The views and surroundings are stunningly fabulous. The hotel itself looks beautiful and well cared for, and we so wanted to give it a higher rating. However, we were most disappointed with the restaurant: the menu was limited and doesn’t offer any starters or appetisers, which we found a bit strange. It offers a hot rock whereby you can cook your own steak at the table, which sounds like a good idea, but in reality fills the whole room with a burning fat smell, which is unpleasant for other diners. We had to move tables twice to escape the fumes. Breakfast was also disappointing, the ‘original porridge’ was strangely flavoured with vanilla, and it was served to me at the same time as my next course of a toasted muffin with poached eggs. I asked for my eggs to be sent back and kept warm whilst I ate my porridge, I also asked for the muffin to be toasted a bit more. It was returned back to me later on with a burnt muffin and over cooked rubbery eggs ... very unpleasant. The soap dispenser in the shower didn’t work, nor did the light above the mirror. Beautiful surroundings, shame about the restaurant.
I don’t normally review places but The Whistlefield Inn is amazing. Beautiful setting, staff were very friendly and helpful. I had my ebony meal there and the Black Rock steak is to die for. The room was cosy and very clean. This Inn has bags full of character and charm. If you are in the area a stay here is a MUST!!
A really lovely country hot with cosy bar and restaraunt. The staff were incredibly friendly making us feel welcome and relaxed!
Excellent staff & service in a beautiful location. Good food & drink. Would stay again.
The property was lovely and immaculate. Situated in the most stunning of places. My only negative was that they used frozen vegetables and the breakfast lacks locally sourced food and drink ( local sausages, Haggis and local coffee/teas etc), which would really add to this wonderful establishment.
The location was fantastic and added to that, so was the weather
