Slough Hotels

Slough is a vibrant place and a shopping mecca, with extensive malls and one of the largest hypermarkets in Europe. It’s a growing creative hub too, inspiring an increase of cafés, restaurants and shiny glass buildings in the centre of town. It’s not all homage to modernity however; Slough is surrounded by some of the most historically important sites in the country, including Windsor Castle and Eton College.

Things to see

Slough’s town centre is a lively shopping venue, headlined by the glossy, glass-fronted Queensmere Observatory Mall. No matter what the unpredictable British weather is doing outside, here you can shop, dine and play in air conditioned calm. There’s free WiFi throughout the centre, and even a crèche where the children can play while you shop or relax over coffee. For a cultural excursion, take the short drive or bus journey to Windsor Castle, famed for its grand, circular tower and grey stone battlements. Leading from the castle, Windsor’s High Street is charming, with a collection of independent shops, cafés and tearooms to enjoy. There are more splendid buildings at Eton College. Beyond the ivy-covered turrets, there are museums and rowing lakes which are open to the public. For family fun, take a trip to nearby Legoland for rollercoasters and Lego creations galore.

How to get to Slough

Slough has excellent transport connections – it is located less than 20 minutes from both central London and Heathrow Airport, making it an ideal base to explore the capital, or for a stopover between flights. From Heathrow Airport, there are express bus services which go direct to Slough from Terminal 5 and to Windsor from the central bus station.
