10/10 Exceptional

Set on amazing grounds so peaceful ended up booking an extra nyt it was that nice!

Beautiful hotel, by the river.

Lovely staff and quaint hotel; narrow staircase

I accidently went to the Minster Mill hotel but, as they are opposite each other and are sister hotels, the receptionist found my booking and directed me. Be aware the road to the hotel is very narrow - but it is a one-way street and takes you back onto the road you left (like a crescent) when you leave.

The broken Wi-Fi and mobile signal on site cause a lot of problems for me. The only working Wi-Fi was in the bar area and was shared with the card machines which caused problems with taking payments

A lovely 14th century coach house with all the quaint and eccentric things that come with it.

This is far from a 5 star hotel! Not sure who or how they got that rating. The rooms and corridors were not clean. Heavy dirt and cobwebs all over fans and room corners. We realize this is a 600+ year old hotel but the linens, drapes and fabric decor are in dire need of updating. The staff was not warm and friendly here either relative to all of the other hotels we stayed at during our 2 week UK visit. Very disappointed since this was our last night in England.

The space and activities make it an easy choice for kids. My room was a bit dated but the restaurant and gardens were gorgeous.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with friends in an adjacent chalet. Unfortunately we were denied use of the swimming pool because we had not booked spa treatments and the dinner while very nice was vastly overpriced for the fare received

The hotel was lovely although the bed was broken although we did stay in the room one night before being moved to a better room the next day. The staff were very helpful in resolving the issue.

Sophia at the reception was very helpful! She did everything she can to make sure we enjoy our stay! Very nice property for relaxing. The town is about 10-15 min drive away with many dining options. On site dinning is a bit overpriced £25 pp for breakfast!! But overall a very nice stay!

Beautiful surroundings but….

Beautiful landscape not matched by size and quality of room and food at dinner was very poor

Great location and Staff

Loved the look of the hotel and receptionist was lovely (great welcome) However, we found a few large cobweb which we cleared up When using the hot water the tap would make a loudish weird sound which was really annoying especially when using the bathroom at night (it woke my partner up) and lastly the large bed was 2 single beds put together (which i get) but not secured correctly so they kept moving apart thus leaving a gap in the middle (extremely annoying) Overall the hotel along with the staff made a for a very nice stay, it was just a shame these small things let it down which I'm sure the team will look into :) Thanks

Beautiful Property, But Poor Service and Uncomfort

We stayed at the Minster Mill during summer and, while the grounds and setting are truly beautiful, the experience left a lot to be desired. The rooms have no air conditioning, which we were aware of, but when our fan broke, we were told there were no replacements. Only after pressing did they find one, which was barely functional. The following day we requested a proper replacement and were told it would be handled—no one followed up. Luckily, we had a cousin nearby who lent us a working fan. Service overall was disappointing. The bedside lamps were faulty and required fiddling to work. Staff seemed indifferent and not particularly warm or helpful. The only real moment of good service was from a lovely lady who offered our dog a bowl of water as we passed through the grounds—sadly, that was the best hospitality we received all weekend. Wouldn’t recommend staying here in the summer unless you want to sizzle through the night. It’s a shame, as the setting is gorgeous but the service and comfort levels just didn’t live up to expectations.

Recent stay 16-11

Fantastic location , room was very good but the food at the hotel seemed very expensive and then the food at the sister pub the Swan was well below par ! how it was described in the Menu was nothing like in reality. One other point and something people should be aware even if your a resident you cannot use the Spa facilities unless you book a treatment (which for me was not required ) so I was not then allowed to simply have a swim and sauna.
Stephen, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Nice setting however the rooms/doors aren’t soundproof at all so you can hear every conversation and door slamming. Rooms are opposite the wedding event venue so there is loud music until 12. The hotel also didn’t have any earplugs to offer. Additionally we stayed for 2 nights and the hotel unfortunately took payment in a bizarre way - they took both a £465 pre authorisation when we arrived and an additional £365 on the day we checked out, meaning my credit card had a pending balance of £830 despite only a 2 night stay. This seems illogical and they should have used the pre auth charge as payment instead.
2-night trip

6/10 Good

Loved the location and surrounding area and the reception staff were really helpful and informed. It was an except hot day and the air conditioning was less than useless. Never spent a more uncomfortable night. The whole breakfast experience was awful. The lady that meet us was rude and off hand, they were definitely under staffed and every request was meet with ‘I can but that will take some time’. That was a simple request for more milk and then coffee. There were no options for my child for breakfast that weren’t overly complicated and fussy. I know it’s an al a carte menu, but if the hotel caters for children then shouldn’t the menu too. We weren’t asking for much and maybe just a plain cereal or other spreads for the toast, but it was meet with a straight up no. Overall it wasn’t worth the extra amount we paid and the experience put me off staying again.

Dreadful weather so helpful check in staff relocated my room close to reception. The original room was overlooking the river so upgrade was unnecesary! Restaurant menu was great, thoroughly enjoyed dining in the evening.

Fint hotell, hyggelig betjening. Koselig område. Renhold på rommet kunne vært bedre, da det var en god del støv i vinduskarmer mv, samt blodflekker flere steder på veggene.

Not ideal for business stays

Business stop over. Arrived before check-in time but no effort to see when room would be ready. Was staying in pub part of hotel but they didn't have my booking, not a good start. Very poor phone signal at hotel, often no coverage at all, and internet wasn't connecting so was left unable to operate for work as I would normally do on a trip like this. Room as tired, especially bathroom. Expected better for £170/night. Good things: comfy bed, quiet, excellent food. Unfortunately outweighed by poor things, won't stay again for business, doesn't suit it.
