Disappointing but in a great location
I was working in Cambridge so booked for 10 nights. I’ve stayed in many Hilton’s so expected this to be up to standard. The hotel is old and tired, I paid over £2000 and was left very disappointed. The staff are lovely but so many things were wrong. I did complain and was given a free upgrade to a suite but even this was tired. The hotel needs a refurb. The roof leaks, the gym door key card access was broken, the WiFi was poor, it was difficult to use my firestick, the bathroom had shower curtains instead of screens, the air conditioning had to be on constantly, otherwise another fan on the ceiling would start pumping kitchen smells into the room. Also, housekeeping would only remove dirty cups and replace sugar if I left a note. It was bizarre. The duty manager was helpful and patient, but there’s only so much he could do. The hotel provides a 3 star experience for 5 star prices. I think the location is the only saving grace.
