We booked a room on Expedia, but when we got there they said the room had already been occupied. Then they didn’t provide any help at all to find another room there or anywhere else

Great place to party 24/7. Plan to go to bed not early than 3 am. This place is very clean, comfy mattresses. Located in the middle of the party clubs. I recommend you "IT TULUM" club next to this Hostel.

Beautiful facility and great location. However, this was the loudest hostel experience I've ever encountered. It's right next to two nightclubs, and is impossibly loud until they close around 1.

Not what you expect from the photos
So the pictures advertise are not at all like the actual place you stay in. Meaning it’s not spaced out like the pictures shows it’s no open or airy. The bed was so lumpy literally was lopsided and the sheets had stains on them both times they were changed out. The security is good nothing ever came up missing The bathroom was always and muddy water on the floor. There is no space for you to change privately. Also it is very hot almost suffocated during the day they do not turn the A/C until after 8pm.It advertises that the beach is across the street that is true, but what they don’t advertise is that you have to pay upwards to $100 to access the beach club across the street and if you want the beach club they offer you have to walk a mile down the road. Luckily I had rented a scooter. The beach club is nice though food is great! The staff at the hostal is very nice especially the lady who works in the morning. I personally wouldn’t stay here again especially for the price it’s above normal hostal prices. To their credit it does look like they were doing construction

It is what it is
The hotel is super rustic - it’s shaking when windy and the roof was leaking during the rain. The staff was very nice. All the above could be tolerated because of the location - it’s literally across the street from the beach and next to restaurants and bars. But...there’s a very, very loud construction in front of it going day and night. And the main road is just under the window with people trying to get a taxi late night. It was absolutely impossible to sleep. Internet is bad enough for those who need to work remotely.

It was a great place to stay. Our only complaints were mosquitos and it was quite noisey! But both were easy to look past because of the great service and view.

I loved the atmosphere and people. Very centrally located. Clan Destino is a restaurant located in the back, with a cenote inside it. Very fun atmosphere. Clean and comfortable. Showers had hot water. Bring your own soap. You can get a towel for 100 peso deposit, which is returned.

Nice but oh the noise
The location is great. Very close to the beach. The hotel has a cenote in the back and a very reasonably priced bar/restaurant. The biggest problem is the noise. It is very very loud. The noise comes from the road and other rooms. It’s almost as if we were sleeping outside. They also do karaoke on certain nights that goes to 4am. Yes 4 am. If you are a light sleeper this is not the place for you!!! Also, the receptionist didn’t tell us about the free breakfast until later in the next day. The breakfast is not at the same location but about 50 meters down the road.

great cheap tulum beach vacation
This was my second year staying at gran palas bambu hostel. As a 31 year old woman traveling alone I felt pretty safe here. For the price and atmosphere I honestly think its one of the best options. Especially solo travel or with a friend. The hostel was $28 per night and that is in mixed "dorm" with I think 12 bunks? But the bunks aren't like normal hostel, every bunk has 3 walls, a queen bed and a black mosquito net good for privacy and bugs. Breakfast was included with my stay and it was every morning at a bar/restaurant that's a 3 minute walk up the road from the hostel. After eating, i would go right to the beach club directly across from the hostel (villa las estrellas) you can use their beach, chairs, umbrellas , towel, waiters! - you just have to spend minimum 500 pesos. You can easily pretend this is just an all inclusive trip :) . I'd finish at beach club, go back and shower at the hostel. Men and women's bathrooms kept separate and clean. Then I would walk the main strip and find dinner. At night the hostel runs A.C. in the dorm so that's nice. There's also pretty good Wi-Fi, I was able to watch movies and TV shows on my phone/ipad with little connection problem. Everyone I talked to who works at hostel is super welcoming and helpful and even called me a cab for 3am pickup to go back to Cancun airport (roughly 2000 pesos) but that's when I learned they have overnight security personnel in the lobby after hours so that's nice to know too.

Sleeping Uncomfortable
When I book a hostel I know what I'm signing up for, but unfortunately the bunks and sleeping conditions were just too tough to stay. Loved the restaurant and the site and the people who worked there, however.

Hostel near the beach! .
The location is amazing. Beach is across the street. I went to the beach through a restaurant I loved eating at, but I don't know how else you would since the entrances are private. Included breakfast is at a little cenote on property. So cute. Beds in the hostel are double beds not twin. Tall for bunk beds (easy to sit up and move around). Each bed is a little pod that has a fan, locker, hanging light, 2 power outlets, and a mosquito net as the 4th wall. Lighting is really an issue. Womens dorm is dark even during the day. If your bed has a window it is less of an issue but still harder to make friends. Bathroom toilets and showers are well lit but the sink and mirrors are not. You can see just fine, but getting ready for a late dinner or night out it is not easy to see. Bring a flashlight for your locker. Showers could use cleaned better. Water pressure is not good but still got my long hair clean. Water is as hot as you want it. Breakfast is toast, fruit, and coffee. 8am to 9:30am. If you bring any open food or fruits, critters will manage to eat them. Seems like it was some kind of lizard. Definitely not rodents as there was no poop and I didn't hear any scurrying. Google maps is correct. This place is at Clan-Destino. You can tell the cab driver Cafe Jaguar...they all know that place, just get let off a bit early. WiFi is fine. Cell signal bad everywhere nearby. Power goes out for a few minutes each day and so does the WiFi.

Pros. the staff is nice and the hotel is by the beach and sits near lots of things. Cons the sheets were stained the 24 hour restaurant and bar is cool but it can be a bit loud, so bring ear plugs. They only turn the air conditioning on in the room for certain hours of the day and its when no one is in the room and they keep the remote. Its just to hot for that. It was not a horrible stay but because of the air conditioning situation I don't think I would stay there again
