The team at the Mx'axanab were fantastic and made our stay in mid November 2024 (10 days) very enjoyable. The hotel is in a great location, is modern in design but with a nod to Mayan culture, and feel like a high end experience.
The food and drinks were good quality and reasonable priced when compared to the very high prices on the main restaurant strip. Sunbeds were always available, the beach was immaculate and it was always enjoyable walking on the beach in either direction.

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Tulum
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Tulum is from September to November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those looking to explore Tulum’s historical landmarks and cultural attractions, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended. This duration allows visitors to experience the ancient ruins, indulge in relaxing beach time, and enjoy budget-friendly activities like snorkelling and biking. With its great value for money options for dining and wellness activities such as yoga, Tulum offers a fantastic getaway for those on a budget.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Tulum, consider visiting the Dealsopens in new window or Last-Minute Dealsopens in new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates on luxury hotels as your travel date approaches. Enabling email alerts or push notifications can keep you informed about flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don't miss potential savings. Additionally, the Smart Shoppingopens in new window feature within the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so you're more likely to see when prices drop or when rooms become available, enabling you to secure a last-minute getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a more affordable stay in a Tulum hotel. If you're interested in a unique experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer a more favourable rate.
Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, thanks to Tulum's excellent public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that is still well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often great value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
