Beware - all is not as it seems
Whilst the location is nicely central and the facilities at this hotel are good I have serious reservations about recommending it to anyone. The details on your site and the hotels own website talk of parking being available. This is far from the truth. There is very limited space available and it is allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. My request for parking was greeted by the management with a shrug. The nearest car park is almost 1/2 mile away and costs £13 per night. As someone with severe arthritis in both hips I found this an unnecessary and painful walk. I would not have booked here if I had known. Secondly, while I accept that this is a listed building and as such glazing has to be in keeping, I feel that some form of internal double glazing should be sought. We had a bedroom overlooking the street which was quite noisy from about 5.30 in the morning - not conducive to a decent nights sleep

Great staff, lovely building, shame about the show
Firstly the staff were friendly courteous and helpful, I cannot fault the ones we met on or visit....A1. It is a lovely old building, the room was great, my only slight criticism was that the decor, particularly the bathroom was a little tired, and the shower was not good at all, very little water pressure. The food was of a good standard, served with a smile. Overall the experience was very very good. The only little issue I did have was that I booked a table for a meal on line but did not get an e-mail confirmation, so I phoned a couple of days later to double check and the lady I spoke to assured me that she would ensure it was in the reservation diary. On the relevant evening I went to the bar and said I had a booking but one had not been made. This was not an issue as it happens as it was not a busy night, but had the hotel been busier this could have caused an issue. Never the less a very enjoyable stay and I would not hesitate to return.

Great Stay - Five Stars
Stayed over June 2019 for the Chester Races - checked in quickly - guys behind the bar very helpful. Lovely room, kept as really creepy which was great. Very clean, comfy beds and great breakfast. Everyone was really nice. Will defo be staying again.

Lovely guiding but lacks comfort in the room
Staff small and the bed was rock hard in room 4 and the shower was very weak no pressure at all. Breakfast however was ace.
