There’s nothing luxurious about Grand Park Royal. Our party booked four rooms through Expedia for one night of our trip. Let’s start with check in which had more red tape than border control. It took a solid 20 minutes to check in. They give us wristbands and make us write out the words “I have been notified I will pay 1800 pesos if I lose the armband.” It’s a disposable plastic band.
If your signature on the check in paperwork varies at all from your passport signature, you have to sign it again. They forced us to leave one passport hostage at the front desk as another security guarantee to get their wristbands back.
Not sure what kind of issues they have had to make them go to these measures, but it’s clearly not an upscale clientele.
We finally got the all-clear to go to the pool. The pool water was murky with so much debris floating in it, another part had black algae growing on the bottom. It’s nothing like the pristine clear pools you expect from a high end resort.
Even though we had wristbands, we were denied towels at the pool because we didn’t know our room number yet. We finally convinced the worker to give us some towels, but you’re only allowed four per room. She painstakingly wrote down each one we took and then wrote notes if we returned it.
Since we didn’t have a room for the first few hours, we just had to use the pool bathrooms which were filthy and smelled. We took our daughter to the bathroom and there was poop on the floor. Very low quality resort.

Nice property…very pretty, great pools and bars! The staff were awesome, especially the entertainment staff! We had an issue with the AC going out….it took longer than it should have to address the issue and, ultimately, move rooms. But we had no other issues after that. The food is just ok….Mexican restaurant was not good, but the Italian restaurant was amazing! The man-made lagoon was nice but small, no natural beach to walk on. Regardless, I would recommend!

We enjoyed our visit there, some of the restaurants weren’t that good but the other ones made up for it. It’s a big resort plan on walking. It could have provided more varied activities.

Rooms are spacious, nice and clean. Food is very hit and miss. We found that the Pescador restaurant had pretty much the only edible food. Pools are extremely dirty and unkept. Check in took at least an hour. Room service and restaurants waits take over an hour. Hotel is run down. Too many guests for amount of staff.

Pack your patience during check in. It will take you a very long time. Beach area is small and they have limited seating. Food is good at specialty restaurants. We are not pool people so I cant comment on that. Drinks were okay. It would be good w a family and kids. Screaming kids were everywhere. It was okay for the low price but would probably never go back. Oh the AC on 6th floor 2nd tower didnt work well and the elevators are tiny and slow. Use the stairs if you are able to.

Although I there are more things that I liked than disliked. The biggest dislike is the privacy you have in your rooms. You can hear everything your neighbors SAY and DO. But overall 4 o 5 experience.

I have stayed at this resort approximately 40 times in the past 9 years. The employees are super attentive and work hard. However everything is broken! The pool has severe black algae, most of the elevator do not work, my tv did not work, my phone did not work, and more. I need hip and knee surgery and access to elevators is important. I love the employees, but they have little tools to work with. The buffet has fewer items and the quality in bad! Over the past few years I keep giving them another try, but things seem to go without repair. The beds use to have a sheet between you and the dirty blankets, but no longer. The blanket had blood stains on both beds. They offer a bare minimum drinks in the refrigerator and fewer towels than before. The pool bar had a tap broken so they served beer from a plastic jug. The beer was poured into jugs from other bars, flat beer. I will not stay here again after 40 visits! The will say "sorry for your experience but we are working on correcting the problems". Total BS. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Okay experience for the money. What I’d consider a “budget all-inclusive”. The food was okay, but nothing spectacular. The drinks were good and the people and service was great! The place really just needs updating, a facelift, some maintenance (2/4 elevators in our building were down and the filter pumps in the pools were broken), and more attention to the quality of the food. For the money, it was a fine experience.

This property has severely gone down hill over the past 3 years, that goes from inoperable pool pumps and filtration systems to the food to upkeep on literally everything. We have stayed at this property 8 times over the past 15 years and this year was noticeably marked with insufficiencies that the new Management hasn't addressed. This will be our last time staying there, we gave it a second chance after our trip there 3 years ago only to discover that things have gotten worse and haven't improved at all. With that being said, the staff is great but good luck finding a cold beer on property.

Check in should not take half an hour with 6 reception employees and being the first guests in line. Epic fail on first impression.
Pools are full of black and green algae. Don’t blame the hurricane. It is embedded on the walls of the family and infinity pool. This is neglect pure and simple.
Food was always cold and borderline inedible. Buffet was lame other than breakfast. Italian restaurant was disgusting.
Not enough pool chairs or beach chairs were ever available unless you claim one at 6 a.m. People mark their territory with a towel, then don’t even use chairs all day while on excursions. Staff needs to enforce time limit on abandoned chairs.
Several items in disrepair on the property.
Most employees were very friendly and provided great service.
This is not a 5-star resort, however. Probably would not return, mostly due to food quality and pool cleanliness. Many other quality properties available with same or better pricing.

I loved the decoration, how beautiful the hotel looks, the different choices of restaurants and food, the view is beautiful. I recommend this property if you are looking for rest since it has it all, it’s a relaxing place.
