Very nearly great
The good: This is a lovely looking hotel from when you walk through the doors. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar attached was really good and the breakfast was enjoyable. Good looking furnishings in the room overall great look and feel.
The bad: The bed was a bit rickety and the mattress was the cheapest of cheap and lessened the overall quality.
It’s a cheap and cheerful hotel if they got some quality mattress’s it would be great

Our stay was lovely. The only beef I have is that you allow dogs in the bar. I have nothing against dogs but I don’t agree with them being in a bar or restaurant where you eat and drink, it is not hygieneic

Have stayed at this property a number of times. While still a good hotel the standards seem to have fallen and servicing of rooms has been cut back to every thrid day.

Overall stay was good, but the rooms heating wasn’t on when I arrived, admins are only radiators, and either on or off…. Gap under door which let the light through from the corridor all night, I ended up putting a pillar to cover the gap on the floor to try and stop most coming through. Service was amazing, as I forgot my toothbrush and they provided one free.

Lovely beach hotel
Lovely hotel next to the beach, very friendly staff happy to help. Good bed comfy, large TV excellent… only issue was the toilet in the bathroom was a bit noisy for a while after flushing, but not a real problem.
Great stay will be back

A well positioned seaside hotel with a good vibe.
Our second stay here, good welcoming service. Had some lovely food in the tea room and enjoyed some small plates in the main bar. Hotel has a nice ambience in the public areas. Bit disappointed with the range of food now offered. Not as good as last year on daytime and evening menus but everything we ordered was tasty and well prepared. A few delays on cooked breakfast item availability on the second of our two days stay. A small inconvenience but still an inconvenience. I'd urge staff to ensure items are available throughout the breakfast service.

Perfect small break
Amazing night . You could easily spend more than one night here . Very self contained . We didn’t even bother to eat in the restaurant the room was so large and comfortable. We opted for room service which again was to a high standard.

Winter Break.
Stayed in the executive suite top floor ,view amazing .Few things needed in that room ,there is only one arm chair that had seen better days cushion was loosing all the feathers
The settee was so low to sit on you couldnt see the lovely view of the sea.More mirrors need too.Grab rail needed in spa bath ..Wardrobe door wouldnt close .Heating is on a timer so if you want to be in youre room through the day it was very cold .We had to wrap up in bed throws. Staff very friendly in breakfast bar. The Poetic licence bar was nice but yet again so cold to sit in .

Working away
Stayed here plenty of times in the past with work, room wasn't as nice as other which i can live with, still get the free drink which is a good touch. I was there for 2 nights and only noticed once i got back the 2nd night that my room wasn't serviced, can live with the bed not being made, but no tea and coffee replaced or loo roll.

The Roker Hotel is is our favourite hotel in Sunderland and it's the one me and my partner keep coming back too each year. It has a prime location by the sea and it's easy to get out to Durham, Newcastle or the surrounding area. The beach is just a short walk away, and has some lovely coffee spots and restaurants on it. The Stadium of Light is also in walking distance if you are vising to see Sunderland play. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The on-site bar is also really good!
