Too noisy to relax & disruptive guests!
This hotel is of a good standard, well decorated with good facilities and in an excellent location. Unfortunately, our experience there was completely marred by the noise from the music in the bar underneath our hotel room. The music came up so clearly, you could hear what song it was and the bass thumped so you could not relax at all. We spoke to reception about this and were offered another double which was just as loud or a twin room, not what we wanted, but quiet so we took it. The twin was spacious but did not have a bath so we had to bathe in the noisy room and then walk through the hotel to sleep, not ideal. Once we were settled, we were further disturbed at 4.30am when another guest, I presume to have been drunk, decided to repeatedly knock on our hotel room door. They would knock for a few seconds, move to another door to try there and then return to ours. We did not dare answer as we were so startled and there was no number in the room that we could find to contact the 24/7 reception on. It might be a nice hotel, but the location is obviously attracting the wrong kind of guests, and it's a shame that we were unable to have a relaxing time here. Despite the location we will not be returning.

Poor 2.0
On first impressions the hotel was great. Nice room (we were in a superior double) and good location close to Liverpool One and the Cavern Quarter. However, within an hour of checking in the fire alarm had been triggered, forcing us out of our room, the alarm then sounded a further three times during our stay (all when we were trying to sleep), we lost cold water (result of the fire alarm apparently) and our room was directly above the adjoining bar causing us further disturbance from the loud music until the early hours. Worst part of the problem was that when we checked out, the receptionist made no reference to the disturbances and didn't even ask how our stay was. It was only after we had said we wished to complain that an apology letter (which had already been written by the manager and was sat in a pile on the check in desk) was offered to us. Whilst the alarm problems may not have been the hotel's fault an acknowledgement of the issues should have been made prior to us bringing it up. Very poor customer service, especially considering the room cost over £180 for the night. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Unpleasant stay
Hi, I stayed at your hotel last night and I had a dreadful experience. I placed the booking quite a while ago and paid a good amount for 1 night which I thought was extremely expensive to start with. This was for one of your “new superior rooms” as advertised on your Facebook. Our room was a LOT smaller almost boxlike and was not informed that we would be staying directly above the alchemist! This also kept us awake until 3am, which resulted in an extremely tired drive back to Manchester as we had to be leaving by 11Am. when I went to reception I asked to change rooms and stated I’d even pay, he said “ sorry we’re full” and I said my room isn’t a superior and apparently if it has a bath shower then it makes it a superior?

Very good 8.0
Don't forget your earplugs!
Nice hotel, which has been sensitively and tastefully renovated. The room was quite small but at the same time it wasn't expensive so good value for money. The bathroom was a good size and very nicely done, great shower, toiletries and fluffy towels. It would have been good to have bathrobes. It is a room only hotel which suits me as I rarely eat in hotels anyway and there as lots of restaurants on the doorstep. The hotel is so central most places you would want to visit are in walking distance, sights, shops, restaurants, bars, theatres etc. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The downside was noise, I had a room overlooking the street and the noise from traffic and revellers was really bad and I got very little sleep during my stay. The badly fitting metal windows could have done with secondary glazing to keep the noise down and there was also some internal noise.

Exceptional 10.0
We loved it!
Photos on the website are truly representative of the hotel. Our room and bathroom were lovely - a little small, but had everything we needed. The shower was great! - lots and lots of hot water! There was a plentiful "hospitality tray" - and the toiletries were White Company - very nice! The staff were very friendly and helpful (especially Megan!) - even leaving us bags of tea and coffee etc, toiletries, and fresh towels outside our door on the one day we didn't want to be disturbed. The location is brilliant - surrounded by restaurants and bars, and just a few minutes walk from the Pier Head and the Albert Dock. The only downside was that we didn't find the pillows and duvet very comfortable. But we would definitely stay there again, and would recommend to friends.
