We enjoyed the Magical Mystery Tour which took us to all the places associated with the Beatles. The river cruise was quite interesting but we would have done the barge cruise from Albert Dock if we had known about it. The hop on hop off bus was good

Great for shopping, browsing, walking and dining, has gotten a bit expensive over the years but not as bad as London but as I'm not a drinker I avoid the madness of Mathew street, too loud and messy with drunks, go in the morning when they hose it

Liverpool is a city of contrasts. Utter poverty exists alongside considerable affluence. Lots to see, do and buy. Plenty of places to either get completely maggoted or mildly disinhibited. The Waterfront and The Walker sculpture gallery are great.

"We arrived early and were told we could have a free upgrade. Our room, which was booked for 4, actually had 8 comfortable beds and was very spacious. The room had beautiful decor and we entered the bathroom which had 2 showers and a bath which was almost like a small swimming pool. Amazing! On the way out the staff suggested places we could go and were very friendly making us love Liverpool all the more. Thank you Shankleys for a great stay!"
