Average Stay In Chester
We stayed one night in this hotel, the check in went smoothly, but to our disappointment, they informed us we could not park in their empty car park, we had to go to the NCP car park in town. This was rather annoying and cost us another £10 on our booking. It should have been £16, but they gave us a discount card to use. I suppose if you wanted to look around Chester the next day, it would be value for money because you get 24 hours. We had to get off in the morning so not much use to us, but we could have had a full day in Chester because our parking ran out at 7pm. Their car park appears to be for staff, but we only saw about 3 cars in it the next morning and it has at least 12 spaces. So a bit frustrating! We stayed in the annexe building and the room was ok, but on the small side. The bed was comfortable, but the TV was placed in the corner at a funny angle, not great for watching. The bathroom was fine, with a good shower and clean towels. The main problem with this room is the window blinds let in a lot of light, not great if you like a darkened room to sleep in. The walls are very thin too, a party of girls arrived back, drunk about midnight and we heard every word they were saying and again in the morning when they were getting up, not right impressed with that! I guess from the way this hotel is marketed, I expected a really comfortable stay, but in reality it was rather average, on a par with a Travel Lodge.

Would recommend
Nice place to stay, ideally located, does have parking but limited spaces, and do have to pay which isn’t mentioned. Well sized rooms, although only lamps to light the room, bed was two singles pushed together, would benefit from better pillows. Room could do with a paint as marks everywhere. But really nice place for a night away

Exceptional 10.0
Weekend in Chester
We went to Chester for our wedding anniversary, the Townhouse didn't disappoint, room was clean, bed was big and everything worked! The bar and restaurant were also excellent. At dinner the the staff had dressed our table wonderfully including a card. The staff couldn't do enough, would happily stay again and recommend to anyone else.

Lovely central hotel, friendly helpful staff
Good hotel, central for bars, cafes and shops - girls weekend away so exactly what we wanted. Staff were v friendly and helpful. Stayed 2 nights in triple room, 1st night we were in the annex and had a noisy group of people staying above us so we requested to move on 2nd day and the staff were so accommodating with our move to the main townhouse and took luggage upstairs for us etc... excellent service. Both rooms were v clean, v comfy beds and nice clean bathrooms, complimentary toiletries were a nice touch. We missed having a fridge in the room though. We didnt eat here. Bar was well stocked. Overall we would stay here again. I understand they are planning to refurbish bedrooms through the next year and this will only add to this lovely hotel.

Fabulous restaurant and well placed hotel
The hotel is lovely but the rooms need to be renovated, apparently this is in hand but it had not yet reached our room. It was adequate comfortable but very shabby. Lighting non existent, the main light did not work, so only had 2 small lamps, and WiFi unavailable. However the staff were fantastic. Every single one of them, they could not have been more pleasant and helpful and obviously very happy in their work, so that is a credit to them and their employers. The best thing though was the restaurant the food was fabulous and I do mean fabulous. Having so enjoyed our meal on the first night we booked again for the second, unaware that the chef would be absent, he was doing a radio programme. The meal was superb, the chef returned and asked about our meal explaining that his sous chef had prepared it, his name I believe was Sebastian, well all I can say is you certainly can cook Sebastian, thank you. Overall a great experience, the hotel is ideally placed for a visit to Chester, or Chester racecourse, both of which are well worth a visit, and so is this hotel.
