Exceptional 10.0
Our stay was really good. The hotel was very comfortable and the food was amazing! A little short on room facilities (we were only given towels/robes/water/tissue etc for 1 person not 2 people) for th

Anniversary stay
Stayed here for our anniversary. Spa facilities were great and a beautiful setting for the hotel, but we were underwhelmed by our ‘luxury’ room (tired and in average condition at best). Service in the bar and restaurant needs to improve as well.

Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel, place and people, and good value
We had a great stay in this amazing hotel. We were in one of the old suites so were given a refund as it had not yet been refurbished, which it does need, think 80's rococo kitsch. But it was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were great the building beautiful nd the grounds stunning. We didn't use the spa but I am sure that is great and it did lend a relaxed atmosphere to the hotel with guests dressed up, and others in towelling robes all sitting and eating together and no one minding. We had the half board package which was very good value, especially as the food was so good. We need to find an excuse to come back!

Good 6.0
Mixed experience
Third stay - was not as good an experience as previous stays Initial rooms not fully completed re: refurbished - no curtains and mould on walls. Got moved rooms better - although one of the two rooms we had did not get serviced o. The second day and on first day the bathroom did not contact the necessary toiletries. On arrival receptionist did not tell us the allocated times of dinning and thus was an issue on our second day stay - there was no solution from the duty manager until we suggested the solution - poor customer service in this situation. Food absolutely great - this is one of the main strengths of this hotel Spa visit a joy as well. Would I go back ???!! Will try and find another spa hotel !!!

Good 6.0
Lovely room, but cleanliness and service not good
Contrary to everyone else’s opinion, the scent of reception was headache inducing! I had to run through from the bar to our room. It smelt like 20 reed diffusers had smashed on the floor. Our room was lovely, but not particularly clean. There were residues of sticky substances on the bedside tables which had long hairs stuck to it. The sockets were thick with dust and our bedside lamps had cobwebs up to the ceiling. The room was beautifully designed and very smart. We even had a balcony which we hadn’t expected. The slippers and robes were a nice touch. Dinner was very disappointing. The ballroom was brightly lit, and very noisy. The absence of table cloths on marble tables and wooden floors meant conversations reverberated as did plates and cutlery clattering about. Our server was very friendly and kind. The food was average. The starter and main course was not very inspired, but the pudding was fun. At £40 a head, I thought we’d have had a better experience. Service was fast. We had three courses in under an hour! Breakfast was very good indeed. The staff were disinterested and unhelpful. One walking off whilst we were midway through asking a question! No one looked happy to be working there. For a luxury hotel, I expect a high level of service, and I didn’t receive that. I wouldn’t stay here again. Overpriced for poor service and bad food.
