Very good 8.0
This Hotel is lovely.
Upon entering this older, GRAND hotel, you do notice that the decor is reminiscent of the 90's, do not let it obstruct your thinking that this is not a great hotel. Every staff member that we came in contact with was kind and helpful, adding to the great experience that we had there in our home, for the week. The room was extremely comfortable, immaculate, towels replaced almost as soon as you used them. The beds and linens were perfect. The beach was gorgeous, no seaweed, great sand, possibly one of the best locations because the sand is the original, not replaced after the last hurricane, like many in close proximity. It is very obvious if you walk the beach, which you can from this location. We ate in the hotel a few times the Isle Contoy, for lunch and dinner, which was delicious and a good value, the breakfast buffet, also good. I will add that the fitness center had up to date equipment, offering coffee and cookies all day long,if you need a fix. The SPA is FANTASTIC, go. It is beautiful and services were excellent, the hydro therapy was over the top, outstanding! Very Modern facilities. I would go back to this Hotel, the location to many other restaurants, is perfect. If you want nightlife and or shopping it is a couple blocks from you as well as a fabulous grocery store for a snack. They do charge a resort fee daily, but your 2 bottles of water in your room are included, as well as some food items passed out at the beach. We will go back.

Good 6.0
The location was great-staff very friendly-everything was kept clean and nice. On the other hand-the prices were quite high and for some reason we also got double charged on a few occasions. Two of them were promotions and for free but we were charged for them-a big mistake was not to keep all the recietes and also leave a credit at the front desk.We definietly did not spend all that money plus we paid the resort fee twice-first when we came there we pd up front 8 nights and then on the bill we were charged 512 pesos every day,-my husband did not understand the spanish language and thought :renta de habitiacion; ment we paid extra for the wheelchair I had to use !!!?? We also had a substantial amount written up 9 times from one of their restaurants Isla Contoy which we visited once and that was the promotional dinner we got...Bikini B was a another bar that had a charge of 942.50 for we dont know???The regular drink price for a daiquiri plus two shots my husband had that day was 331.50-we do have that reciete but the other charge was for the same day and we left that day to the city. When my husband got the bill the same day we were leaving we did not have enough of time to go thru all our recietes and theirs so it got hanging in the air..after we already had paid for everything. We were told to contact the hotelss supervisor who was not there....needless to say this 5-diamond star hotel became a very expensive lesson.Even Expedia did us wrong to believe it was a All-inclusive!

Very good 8.0
NIce staff but things changed some from prior visi
This is our 4th time staying at this hotel in last 3 years. We had a pleasant time. It is little older hotel but overall is well maintained. Great location and overall pleasing staff. Some things we noticed on this trip that were different : welcome drink. Before they would give you some type of welcome drink at check in time. We checked in 4-5p and none offered and none observed being given out to other guests on other days during check in. 2. They used to have fresh fruit (apples etc) on a plate waiting in your room on check in day. Didnt have it this time. We say on front desk counter a vase with fruit in, i guess this is the new alternative. 3. We were on 11th floor and cleaning crew was not up to par as prior times. Our toilet got clogged from paper. When we returned to our room from beach the room had been cleaned. The toilet seat was down. When i lifted it it still had the same paper floating and was still clogged. Cleaning lady must have just flushed it once and put the lid down without cleaning it or checking if paper went down. Some other areas were slightly dirty as well that day. 4. Several of the staff/waiters on the beach and around the pool were much slower on acknowledging us and taking our order. Overall we still had a good time and love the location and the overall effort the staff but was little disappointing with the mentioned changes. Hopefully is not a permanent trend

Exceptional 10.0
Royal Treatment At A Great Price
This hotel has one feature above all others in the area. EVERY room is ocean front. They have NO rooms facing the street. They are EXTREMELY friendly. They listen to concerns. They have a staff that goes above and beyond, even helping with the most meager request. Though I am far from affluent in Spanish or Mexican, they really seem to appreciate it when guests say hello in their language. Their staff is, for the most part, bilingual. I even heard staff speaking in what I believe was Japanese. The 4 pools are all shallow (3 feet maximum depth), with several areas of the pools being only a couple of inches deep (perfect for a little cool water as you lay out). A few areas are about a foot deep, sporting a sitting ledge. 3 of the 4 pools had swim up bars. Periodically the pool staff bring out some fruit skewers, fruit popsicles, brownies, and other snacks, all for free. The pools close at 8 p.m. which many guests may be put off by, but I've found it cuts down on late night drunkenness, and encourages a more relaxing visit (some may say more family friendly). They have a spa, which has many offerings all at *reasonable spa prices (which I personally think are overly expensive to begin with--anywhere). They have four restaurants on site. One for breakfast, one for lunch, and three for dinner (including the one for lunch). The rooms are great with bathrooms with the shower/toilet area having a door, and a separate vanity/dressing area that is open to the bedroom.

Poor 2.0
A fake smile and a hand ready for a tip.
$1922.00 (USD)/7 nights. Nice resort, the pool service is PHENOMENAL. However, once I raised a concern about a transaction in the gift shop, my name (or room number) must've gone onto a list. For the past 2 days, we have been treated poorly. We tip >20% at each turn (someones giving 100 pesos just for bring a bottle of water), but man..... This afternoon, we spent nearly 3 hours (more, actually) waiting on our room to be cleaned. At 3PM, after we had lunch, we asked at the front desk if we could have our room cleaned. They responded to my wife, "Right away". It's now 6:28PM and we just got into our room. At the top of each hour, we inquired at the desk, and we were met with indifference, rudeness, and blank stares. I am curious to see how our next 3 nights go; I will be updating this periodically. I am curious to see if they read these reviews; so far, no one has asked a manager/supervisor to talk to us. I suspect that when we return, we MIGHT get a response; but that will be too late to address our concerns. Fortunately for the hotel, that "automated" posting will make them look like they are attentive and have exceptional service. Out of curiosity, I read some of the recent reviews, and further narrowed them based on ranking. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. This hotel is loaded with fantastic reviews; however, none speak to a specific experience. The negative reviews are quite telling, and in my read, they look similar to my experience----poor service!
