The hotel has a spectacular position overlooking the river and historical centre of Porto. Service was excellent and not overbearing. Breakfast and dining generally were high quality. The outside pool area is lovely. You can walk down to the river direct from the hotel, where there are a lot of bars and restaurants - it is however quite a steep path, so perhaps not suitable for all. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful hotel with fantastic views over the river to Porto. Staff were very helpful - one team member conjured up tickets for a Champions League game, another sorted out a doctor to visit for my onset of back pain. Lovely rooftop bar/restaurant and the main dining venue was unfussy and full of flavour. Recommended!

If you’re coming to Porto, this is definitely the place to stay! The location right by the river is absolutely beautiful. The place itself was much bigger than we anticipated, was clean and well stocked. The communication with our host was faultless. They sent detailed check in instructions including a video of where the property was. They were very accommodating and friendly. We would recommend to anyone 10/10

What a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful new apartments with glorious views of Ribeira across the river. If you want to feel romantic then just stay here. Wake up open the curtains and just take it all in. Absolute Perfection.
Make sure you hire bikes (and/or bike tour) and explore the coastline either side of the river. Do a port tasting tour (Taylors v good), eat sardines anywhere and they will be sensational and ensure you visit the lovely Afaruda fishing village.

The hotel is gorgeous, with vintage and modern decorations. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony when we arrived, which was a lovely surprise. The room was absolutely fine in size, not massive, but I’m from London, so I know that European hotel rooms are generally small. The staff are very professional, in particular one of the young ladies who served the drinks by the pool in the afternoons and evenings, who was very funny, and attentive. Breakfast choice was plentiful, different fresh...

Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but with Vila Nova de Gaia's excellent public transport connections, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well linked. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
