Top neighbourhoods in Madrid

Madrid Centro

Madrid Centro pulses with history and art around every corner. The Royal Palace stands majestically near Plaza Mayor, where locals and travellers mingle under red arcades. World-class museums form the "Golden Triangle of Art," showcasing masterpieces from Spanish painters. The area comes alive after dark when tapas bars fill with laughter and plazas transform into open-air living rooms. Getting around is simple with three metro stations and narrow streets perfect for exploring on foot. Stay in converted palaces turned boutique hotels or charming pensiones. Traditional tabernas serve authentic Spanish cuisine alongside modern eateries, making Madrid Centro an ideal base for experiencing the capital's vibrant spirit.

Salamanca

Salamanca dazzles with Madrid's most exclusive shopping along the Golden Mile, where luxury boutiques tempt fashionistas. Beyond shopping, this elegant area serves up cultural gems like the National Archaeological Museum and stunning 19th-century architecture. Wide, tree-lined boulevards invite leisurely strolls between upscale cafes and art galleries. Dining options range from traditional Spanish tapas to international fine dining, with reservations recommended for the best spots. Getting around is a breeze with three metro stations connecting you to Madrid's attractions. Elegant hotels and luxury apartments provide sophisticated accommodation that match the neighborhood's refined character.

Retiro

"For a 4 star hotel it was disappointing to see there was no facilities in the room to make a cup of tea. At night I had to go downstairs to the bar and pay 2.50 Euros each time i would want a cup of tea…But they have a full stock up mini bar with alcoholic drinks which to me was useless. Not even a complimentary water bottle on arrival"

"A spectacular stay in the perfect spot. Everything was impeccably clean, the atmosphere of the hotel is very pleasant, and the rooms are very comfortable. But what truly made the difference was the kindness and friendliness of the entire staff. They made us feel welcome at all times and turned the experience into something magical and special. We would definitely choose this hotel again when we return to Madrid. Highly recommended!"

"Great hotel. Loved the room with a great view of the Gran Via, the staff and the location. Only issue we had was our room was right next to the elevator and we heard the elevator going up and down at all times. Rarely was there much time the elevator wasn’t making noise. Didn’t complain because they were nice enough to give us the room very early in the day. Other than that loved the hotel and would stay again. I would just request not being near the elevator. "
