County Hotel
"It was really good value for money. The staff, party the young man on reception, were friendly and helpful. As a grade 2 listed building the property is showing signs of age and the floors were very creaky. The room was a good size , clean and the bed was really comfortable. The location is brilliant with excellent views from the room. Very close to the station, Citadel and all local amenities. Overall would be happy to stay there again."
Cumbria Park Hotel
"A brief stay on a journey north. The room was the standard I would expect for the price, although I found my single bed less comfortable than most. Breakfast, however, was excellent with really good sausages!"

Langley Castle Hotel
"We booked Langley to celebrate our Anniversary and were not disappointed. It is a stunning Castle a most beautiful place to stay for a special occasion. The staff were really helpful and friendly, they took the time to stop and chat and nothing was to much trouble. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. Dinner and Breakfast were excellent with plenty of options, served in a stunning restaurant. I would highly recommend Langley Castle, will definitely be going back."
THE ROADHOUSE
"The room was a good size for a single room with en-suite. The decor was tired but ok. The room was clean except for several stains on the carpet which some good carpet cleaner ought to be able to sort out. I got the room for a reduced price on Hotels.com so it was acceptable value for money. I would not have said that if I had paid the full price."
The Halston
"Short walk from train station. Very well appointed. Clean. Staff helpful and welcoming. Breakfast a bit confusing but we figured it out!!"
Ox Hotel Carlisle
"The staff are brilliant"
Pinegrove Hotel
"Great budget hotel with extremely friendly staff and good location."
Lake District Castle Inn hotel & Spa
"Room service is not good enough"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Carlisle
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Carlisle is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices are generally lower. For a thorough exploration of the city's historical landmarks and cultural sites, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This duration allows you to soak in the charming small-town atmosphere, enjoy friendly interactions with locals, and visit key attractions such as the impressive cathedral and the historic castle. With budget-friendly dining options and inviting coffee spots, you can enjoy a rich cultural experience without stretching your wallet too far.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute hotel deals in Carlisle, begin by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to keep informed about flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don't miss out on potential savings. Additionally, the Smart ShoppingOpens in a new window tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, helping you make an informed choice. With these features, you're more likely to see updates on price drops or availability, making your last-minute getaway easier to book.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates might help you find a more affordable option for your stay in a Carlisle hotel. For those seeking something a bit different, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and occasionally offer better value. When you make a booking through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher end, we may suggest alternative dates that could be more budget-friendly, assisting you in your search for a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Carlisle's superb public transport links, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
