About this apartment

Drummond Place is in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic New Town which dates from the 1780's and constitutes the largest unspoilt area of Georgian architecture in the world. It is an exceptional grade A listed apartment which has been carefully remodelled and refurbished recently. The current owner is a London-based architect who also works in Scotland.The Space:The flat will comfortably sleep 6 in three double bedrooms - one of which is ensuite. The master bedroom has a super king bed, the second bedroom a king and the third a double. The flat is located on the second floor of the building and because floor to ceiling heights in Georgian Edinburgh are really generous (the drawing room has a 4m ceiling) there are 45 steps up to the flat from the hall, however the spectacular views and quality of light more than compensate you for the climb!Guest Access:Main door access with phone intercom.The whole flat is at the guests' disposal. Harvey Nichols is a mere 10 minutes walk in St Andrew Square as are many other major shops on Princes Street and George Street. The National Portrait Gallery is at the top of the hill and Edinburgh Castle, The National Gallery, The Royal Botanical Gardens are all within walking distance.Getting Around:Waverly Train Station, St Andrew Square Bus Station and tram stop are all within walking distance. There are also plenty of buses in York Place. We would highly recommend the tram if you are travelling to the airport (40 minutes and £8 return fare).Other Things to Note:For over 200 years, Drummond Place has been widely acknowledged as one of the finest squares in Europe. All the buildings in the square are Grade A listed and many of these houses have been occupied by famous painters, writers and academics. Currently Drummond Place features prominently in Alexander McCall Smith’s series of books, 44 SCOTLAND STREET.In the centre of the square is a privately owned communal garden. It is a sanctuary of calm in the centre of the city. The New and Old Towns of Edinburgh are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
